Can I get a 27fb for $68K?

We have been trying for 2 weeks now to determine, and find, which Airstream we want to buy. Having waded through a lot of the nomenclature and doing a lot of reading, and looking at several trailers on the CampingWorld lot in Katy Texas, we know what we want.

We like the International CCD 27fb in the dark color ( I think they call it paprika). We don't need the extra television(!?) or to buy a $ 300 microwave from Airstream when Walmart has one for fifty bucks that will handle the popcorn and hot dogs.

We have a "kitty" of $ 68,000. ready to spend. right now. today, if need be. Can put deposit on credit card to hold the trailer, and arrange a bank transfer when needed to pay the total. No financing needed at all.

I have been getting frustrated and just wasted a lot of time thinking I was contacting several different locations about trailers only to find out late yesterday that all inquiries go to the same guy sitting in Texas. I spent a week trading emails with what I thought was a dealer in Syracuse, and then find out he's in Houston and personally hasn't seen any of the units I am asking about. oh well. Live and learn, right? There's an old saying vaguely about having an intense momentary relationship with something and then moving on. I am not going to post that here.

In your collective and valuable experience and opinion, can we get a 27FB International at a drive-away price of $ 68,000?

If so, where, please?
If not, I guess we regroup and either lower the target, or wait til I can come up with more money. We're not known for lowering the target.

You might have to go higher or wait and see if there are any carryovers left on the lots this fall. Or look for a newer used unit. They drop pretty fast once they drive off the lot.

Getting a unit like this at $68K would only represent an approximate 15% discount off MSRP (excluding taxes). Seems like an easy goal to accomplish.

Try Colonial Airstream they have new and prior owned

I bought mine at Colonial NJ -- They are all about customer service
and great to work with.

I would highly recommend them!

Good luck,

Lin.

You should be able to get 20% to 22% off of the MSRP.

Have you talked with some of the large volume dealers like Colonial in New Jersey or Bill Thomas in Missouri? Also try Bates RV in Florida. They have one with a MSRP of $76,501. You should be able to negotiate a price in the low $60's.

We got ours for 67.4 at Sky River RV in Pismo Beach CA. That included some extras like the driver side awning. I think we started at about 65 before adding options. I felt like that was a good deal after getting no where with another dealer in the state. Sky River folks were very friendly. Manager is Ken Baker.

A bit of a ride for you, but may be worth it if you want to be below 68.

I think they have a website that you can see what they have on the lot. They didn't have the interior color that my wife wanted so they ordered one for the same price.

Good luck!

Howdy!

In these hard times I find it hard to believe you can not make a CASH deal. I would make and offer and have them call me when its ready to be picked up. I have also found that a lot of the internet dealers when you show up on the lot don't have the inventory. We fulltime and in our travels have stopped into several AS dealers who list on the internet wanting to look a a new 34' and haven't seen one yet.

If you're in Turks & C. are you planning on taking it to the islands or keeping in in the mainland U.S.? I'd imagine freighting it over would be VERY costly too.

Closest dealer has got to be Bates in Florida, but Colonial does a lot of shipping.

In these times, I would be targeting 20% below MSRP (sticker).

ha ha. I can just imagine what one of those would be like on an island a mile and a half wide and seventeen miles long. I reckon we could hit all zero camping spots in one weekend. then what? Office or restaurant, I suppose. Bait shop?

We want to keep it in storage in the Dallas area. we would only be using it a few times a year. I looked up in the eastern US, but the trucking quote to haul it from NY to Dallas was $ 3100. I am assuming that would be about the same from NJ. Adding that to the out the door price makes it just about as much sense to just pay three thousand more in Texas and not have to worry about some amphetamine crazed truck driver smoking the tires off it at 80 mph. I just replaced six wheel bearings in a boat trailer. I don't want to look at any more of those this year.

You can get a new 2010 for around that. Here is one in Houston listed for $39,000. I would make an offer on it. With high fuel prices I have a feeling business if going to be down a little.

you got me all worked up with that one! Of course, a new leftover 2010 already in Houston or Dallas would be perfect for us. Within budget and no transportation costs. When I read this post, I was smiling and thinking 'Ah HA!" I even KNOW Demontrond. They were a big Buick dealer when I was growing up in the Houston area in the previous century.

Then I checked the ad, of course, and lo and behold, it's exactly the colors we want. Which I have been informed is actually Wenge. Okay. I didn't know a wood was a color, but okay.

But then I looked at a few more photos, and when I saw the bed I realized.....

thats a good price, but that's not a 27FB. I suspect it's a 25,perhaps?

Thanks for trying, though. This is NOT going to drive me back to drink.

The low rock guards, the single axle and the placement of the refrigerator says this was actually about a 2005 23' A/S... they may have messed up and posted the wrong pictures, but get in contact and insist on the correct pictures including pictures of the tongue where you can see the VIN number.
