Beautiful '82 Limited 34' (outside anyway)

Hi all. Have the opportunity to purchase a 1982 Limited 34' for $3000.00. Major issues are: floor appears solid, but it has been stripped and painted where carpet was, previous occupant had a cat and he scratched the sofa up a little and did, well, what cats do to add a distinctive aroma, needs batteries and quite possibly an inverter, not all light fixtures working, a/c works, heater works. Interior definitely needs some TLC, but the shell/windows etc. are pristine. No propane tanks. Lots of little projects that could add up to what I'm guessing is about 3-5 thousand to make her more than adequate for use. I'd hate to let this one get away if overall it would be a good investment. We're willing to put some $ into it and lots of elbow grease. Any advice greatly appreciated. Pictures to follow soon. Thanks! Fred

I have an '82 limited 34". I love the extra room of the larger unit. Mine has been a great project. I have found that reference pics of similar units are extremely useful in renovations. I would be happy to send some pics if you need them.
Good Luck!

“Natures Miracle” will kill the “aroma”. It contains enzymes which neutralize urine.

New 34' Airstream

I recently purchased a 1987, 34' Excella Airstream after looking at units for about two years. Things to look for include: 1.the undercariage and frame for rust, dents and holes. 2. the axles and brakes - have they been replaced and do they still work. 3. If the propane tanks are missing, how did you check the appliances like the heater, stove and refrig? 4. Cat ordor is hard to remove - that is probably why the carpet has been removed. Cosmetics are relatively easy to fix - major repairs are costly. Look past the shinny outside and get dirty looking in the hard to reach places. Ask loads of questions. I hope it turns out to be everything you think it is. Also welcome the this forum, there a lot of great people here and loads of advice.

We are going to plug everything in tonight and do some more inspection. As far as the heater goes, we will probably be using space heaters for the most part, so if that needs repair, we are willing to make the investment. We don't plan any traveling this winter, so we have time on this. The refrigerator is a household unit which we prefer anyway. Thanks everyone for the replies!

I am about to replace the axles on our '97 34'. Be sure to factor that into your price, but if the shell and floor are as good as your post, $3K is a deal.

That and the lack of tanks would get me scratching my head.

Well we went back a little while ago and the owner had tanks from his other trailer hooked up. Heater and stove working fine, all interior and most running lights working. Faucets and toilet good. She's coming home with us tomorrow! We knew how to check a lot of things from the time we got our '83 Sovereign, so we were not complete novices, but we appreciate greatly the comments and suggestions from everyone. My Dad is going in 1/2 with us so he'll be an official Airstreamer too! Only regret is that we didn't find this one first before we sunk so much time and money into the Sovereign.

What's the story with the Sovereign? Where is it now?

We still have both. We came to a standstill the last couple of months as we were caring for a family member with a terminal illness who has since passed. We got the Limited pretty much gutted of upholstery, and are letting her air out as weather permits. I think we will slowly get back into the restoration process as this has taken a heavy toll on us all. Thanks for the interest. Will try to get some pics up soon, but they may not be very interesting. Fred
