Airstream trailer values

Looking at 25ft to 27ft airstream to purchase but the list price compared to the nada used retail price is quite a ways apart. So I guess I'm needing some advice from airstream owners about how to value the trailers. Some I've looked at are 8 to 10 thousand higher that nada. Are they selling for that big of difference in price. It would appear to me that the airstreams hold there value very well.

The sites you are using are useless. They have been for a while. Cruise thru the Forums and other actual owner/buyer sites for much more accurate estimates. Of course, we have those bottom feeders advertising here too. Huge prices for mediocre Airstreams...always hoping to get a bite.

then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production."

I don't understand how NADA comes up with these numbers. There is no way you can buy or replace an airstream for that. You need to watch your insurance also. Some companies use NADA for their values.

I've been told that NADA and other such services use a sliding scale for high-end, low-volume coaches. That results in some pretty low numbers for older coaches. The second part of the equation is that it seems that most used Airstreams are sold privately, so NADA doesn't get the actual numbers.

Lenders often use NADA as a loan guide, but a certified appraisal might be acceptable. If/when we decide to get an Airstream I'd be impressed by a statement in the ad that said the price was based on a certified appraisal.

NADA values regarding older Airstreams are a joke. They depreciate them according to age and if you follow the line down, they would have them worth nothing after a certain point which is obviously not true. They should be valued more as collector items whose worth is dependent on condition, rarity and demand. And lately demand has been going up as have prices.

The best guide to prices would probably be the airforums classified, although even some of those should be taken with a grain of salt. I don't know of any certified appraiser or appraisal service.
