Question Airstream Safari

What's a flooded 2007 safari worth? It really doesn't look bad at all, and i've seen cars run up and down the road that were flooded. I HAVE ABOUT 2 DAYS TO COME UP WITH A GOOD NUMBER

Thumbs down Fludz....

I wouldn't even consider a substantially flooded vehicle.

Just the floor with no wall or appliance damage.....maybe.
Even so, very high probability of unseen damage.

Over the years have seen to many problems crop up in carz that should have been on the Ark.

It would depend on how high the water was. If the water touched the trim of inside wood, the veneer will most likely come off at some point. All the appliances will need to be checked. Carpet and/or vinyl floor will need to be replaced

Where did the Georgia-flooded Airstreams end up? Wasn't it some used RV dealer in the southwest? They sure had higher water levels than that dealer was acknowledging. Virtually no information was available on what they did -- clean up vs. replace. This is a big concern when it comes to things like the furnace, water pump, HW heater, converter and fridge & stove if it got up that high.

I don't know how one could accept any flooded RV without removing all the interior & inner skins. Black mold & mildew in insulation would be a huge concern and all side insulation would have to come out. I'd want to clean back to bare wires (with respiratory protection!). Then one could see how the floor linoleum is minimally (if at all) glued down. Knowing the linoleum would have kept it from drying very fast, I'd sure want to take a look at the floor underneath.

Cleaning it inside out to the outer skin is a huge job. The inner skin has to be reinstalled and maybe the cabinets can be re-used. The investment of time (what's half a year or more of weekends worth to you?), replacement parts & headaches suggests to me that 10-15K is almost too much. And for all that work you'd still have a salvage title with difficult resale prospects? I wouldn't do it.

it's on an online auction, right now, the bid is $550, with 2 days left, with full disclosure on the fact that it is a salvage unit with a salvage title.

it looks like it was about half way up, but i plan to call, monday to see if i can get any more information.

it's not on ebay

I assume you are talking about the flood damaged 2007 AS in North Carolina. It does look like the water was as high as 3 feet above the floor level.

One thing to consider (among the long list) is how a salvage title will limit your options for insurance and traveling out of state. I am no expert on this subject but you will find several threads on this forum discussing the disadvantages of owning a travel trailer with a salvage title.

Good luck. Let us all know how this turns out.

not interested in a repair, this would be for parting out. the price, right now is ok, even if i make a small utility trailer out of it. i figure that the insides are bad, across the board, so it's worth just a little more than scrap to me, and yes, that's the one.
