'66 Overlander Int'l - What's a fair price?

O.K., bear in mind I'm completly new at this so hold your laughter and disgust in check for at least a few posts! I'm going to check out a 66' Overlander int'l and the owner says it needs new: tires, wheels, possibly hot water tank/water heater. He doesn't know if the frdge, exterior lights, electric brakes or range work (he towed it home without a camper plug). Says he bought it from a older lady and it sat in her yard for 27 years. He bought as a project and has done: new cushions, patched soft spot in floor by door, new vinyl floor, new roof vents, new faucet, checked all interior plumbing and electrical - all work.

What I really need is a price range and what to look for when I see it. Of course, outside condition is my biggest concern - he says it's good but who knows. Assuming I'll need new tires, wheels, brakes and possibly hot water heater/system, and possibly gas tanks/system..what is it worth?

I'm sure there are a ton of variables and I just want to be as informed as I can be before I make an offer.

Thanks in Advance

Randy,
Welcome to the forums. A really good read for narrowing down Vintage Airstram values is the Price Vs. Condition guide. Give it a read. Plus take a look here for an inspection checklist

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f138...ist-43294.html

Since you are in Johnsonburg you may get a chance to stop by the Penn Wood Aistream Park south of Clarion some time. You can get a look at some older and newer Airstreams and the folks are really nice (our site is A-46).

Good luck and let us know what you find. Pictures are also appreciated.

Here's some pics. The exterior is awfully dark, so I'll post more when I see the thing!!

Randy,

Welcome to the forum. I am new to this forum as well, and I have only owned mine for two years. So take this with a grain of salt.
I bought mine for about $4000, with a bad A/C unit. It had new style LP tanks. New tires, old axles and wheels. Very similar interior conditions to that one you are looking at. Which by the way looks pretty good to me as I like the vintage look, except the light fixtures in the front of course. Make sure the windows are original, I have a plastic one that fooled me.
That one doesn't look like it has a toilet. Exterior is as expected. No big dents or scratches. Check for rust in the bumper storage area, around the steps, and the belly pan.

Other than that, it looks like a decent trailer that should last.

As you said the pics aren't great. So this is a shot in the dark. I would expect to pay in the $4-$5000 range for an unrestored mid sixites in decent shape. More partially restored maybe up to 10-12 K if really nice.

I assume the toilet is there...I'll definitely check that out. I'm hoping once I get her looked at I'll have a better idea on what else it needs. It's actually larger than I was looking for, but it may just work. Any more suggestions are gladly appreciated. Thanks for the info so far.
