Need inspector Amboy, IN 1970 Overlander

RVs Oodle 70' Airstream Overlander 27

I keep coming back to this one because it hasn't sold yet. Not sure if I'm interested or not, but it's in my price range and too far away for me to roadtrip to look at it without a lot of commitment.

Located in: Indiana
Asking price: $4,950
Description: "black tank and frozen pipes. Repaired pipes, removed shag carpeting, sponge painted floor, replaced curtains, replaced tires, added spare tire. Our vehicle too small to tow comfortably. Black tank still leaks. More photos available."

I finally sent him a message asking about the frame, the original appliances, the AC, and the plumbing. This was the photo that made me worried about the subfloor/frame:

Response:
"I have not looked at the frame extensively.
There is an under belly covering that hides most of the frame.
I have attached some picture taken today- behind the tandem wheels, from
the front by the spare tire and from the side behind the door. The spot
by the door appears to have had some wood putty applied, perhaps when the
shag carpeting was installed by a prior owner. We removed the carpeting
to make sweeping the floor easier.

The appliances are all original and appear to be decent for their age -
there are some chips and rust appearing on the refrigerator frame.
The AC was working when we used it last year- age unknown believed to be
original.
The propane system is intact- stove and oven work.
Have not tried the refrigerator on gas.
Have not used the shower.
Have not used the water system since repairing the pressure lines.
The water pump is original.

We have used this unit for guest housing at our home, an once a year to
our church campout.
The campgrounds does not have water or sewer hookups [thus water system
not tried] but they do have electrical hookups [thus the refrigerator used on electric]."

The attached pictures:

You can't really see the frame from any of these. Is there anyone near Amboy, IN who could go check out this trailer (or has already done so)? I do like that there doesn't appear to be a ton of rust on the tongue - I'm hoping that means the frame underneath is similarly light on rust? I just want to avoid a shell-off restoration.

At least the interior looks good...

I modified the title slightly, hopefully this might help you catch the eye of someone who can help you. I am not sure where that is, but you can use the Inspector search (Portal page, on the right column, scroll down to find it) and contact someone near that city directly, to ask if they could help. Good luck!

I've tried contacting inspectors directly last time there was one I wanted help with, and no one responded. I sent messages to at least 10 people. :C

I mostly want some opinions on the pictures provided and what shape the trailer is in, to make sure I'm not missing something. I think he sent me pictures of aluminum corrosion, not places that would be rusty, but there's no rust on the frame so I think that might be a good sign.

The lister said he'd send me pictures this coming week if I remind him, so I'm hoping to see even more of the trailer then.

hopefully someone who knows vintage will come along. I personally don't know enough about vintage to be of any help.

Maybe post a more curiousity driving title. Like "Vintage AS - asking for it?" or something like that.. and post it IN the vintage forum. "Found this Vintage - Junk?"

I've been seeing that a lot actually, in many different for sales... haven't tested the plumbing, haven't tested this, haven't tested that but I suspect it works just fine. Like if you're going to sell the thing, maybe GO TEST IT and then tell me for sure because I'm not here to gamble.

Making a sale at a slightly lower price point than you wanted is better than not selling it at all due to being vague, I would think?

I can't even imagine owning a trailer of any kind and not wanting to know and test every little part of it. Like it has a plumbing system, you might as well use it! Otherwise it's just a slightly shiny tent with airconditioning.
