2008 30' FB Classic King

We have been looking to upgrade to a newer model Airstream as we will be on the road for 6 mos. Out of 12. Found a 2008 30FB Classic King with the Hickory cabinets, corian counters, king bed, looks real clean. The trailer is at Out of Doors Mart in NC. first pass at price lowered the cost from $62,000 to $56,000. I am looking to trade a 1990 Excella 1000, center twin, rear bath. I would rate the interior as excellent and the exterior fair due to the coating peel and one 10" dent and a couple of scratches. The trade in was valued at $9,000. What do you think of the deal? My gut says the trade is low and the Classic should be priced around $46,000 - $50,000 ( $49,500 for the exact model located in CA.). After owning the 32 ft. Excella for approx. 7 years ( paid $16,000 in 2005) I was thinking it was worth about $10,000 - $12,000. Please let me know if I'm off base on the prices and what everyone thinks of the deal.

Thanks,

Bill

In my opinion from past experience 5000 for yout trade. The dealer wants to make at least 100 percent profit. May not be what you want to here but that's how it works. Just remember numbers can be made to say anything. Try to get a final figure in mind and don't worry how they come by it. If you want to pay say ten thousand dif, that number can be gotten by adjusting trade in, cost of new vehicle and any cash involved. Get your number in mind and always ask for the FINAL figure. If it is what you want go for it. That's a nice trailer you are trying to buy. What is important is you get what you want at the price you are willing to pay for it. Don't worry too much about what us bimbos on here say. Others will chime in with their ideas, evaluate, and then decide. Jim

ZigZag...

Thanks for the input. The second one I found at $49500 had a couple of nice extras..two TVs and a catalytic heater. If I allow the $5,000 trade in out the door at around $44500 so I'll offer $44000 plus trade in and see if I get a bite. I'm in no hurry as there doesn't seem to be a shortage of used Airstreams in today's economy. If I could figure a way to change out the twin beds or the front gaucho into a better, more comfy sleeping arrangement I would keep the Excella. By chance do you straighten out the corners on a Motoguzzi? The mountain roads around my place are a blast.
