1991 34' Limited Value

Hi all,
After 4 years of happy trails with our current unit, we are looking into purchasing a newer larger trailer. We are considering this 91 34' limited;
http://www.rvtrader.com/rvdetail537332.htm
Their asking price seems high, but the trailer is in very good condition except the roof section clear coat is showing its age. There is no skin damage or any signs of water leakage. The interior shows very little use, as the owner expressed they have used it a dozen or so times in the past 12 years. We can account for this, as the trailer is located just a few miles from us, and very rarely see it leave their driveway. The trailer has new brakes and tires, and the owner is including the weight distribution hitch and bars. Any comments would be greatly appreciated, Jeff

I have the exact same trailer - I purchased it in Oct 2004 from a couple in Salem, Oregon. Asking price was $22K, and I got it for $21K. It's a beautiful trailer, I'm very happy with it. Part of the reason I got the reduction in price was that the axles on this unit are in moderate condition & though currently useable, will need to be replaced within the next 5 + years. The carpet in my unit is a bit worn in front, and the fabric on the seats and sofa slightly worn, but not bad. My clear coat is also peeling a bit, as is normal for a unit this age. Price is determined more by condition than age.

Look at comp's...

There are a pair of 34's listed here (Forums Classifieds..) for less.. The slightly older one in southern WA is $17,950 and slightly newer one in MI is $21.5K, with price reduced from $24.5K in May... While those involve some driving distance and risk of uncertainty about condition, I'd say price seems a little high... Might at least make good bargaining references...

That does seem a little high. He may be banking a little on the fact that it's a 60th anniversary edition. I bet it could be had for around 20k, depending upon how long it's been out there.

Wow, what an upgrade Jeff.

If its what you want and clean looking, it might be worth the price just because its down the street from you. I paid $1000 in gas alone going to Ohio to pick up my Ambassador.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

And what is it about the curbside rear hubcap?

Is this a funky quirk about this year of Limited? Here is a pic of another 91' missing the same hubcap as the one in your ad. Weird!

It seems a little high. I would offer 21,500 and maybe settle on 22,000 at the most. They can be found more reasonable than that.

Thank you all for your comments. We are still in the process of negotiations with the owner. Will update this thread as we move forward. Jeff

Progress Report??

So Jeff..

If you sold the old trailer, are you trailer-less, or are you still negotiating on this one or have you found another one?

John,
We still have our old trailer. She has been so cheap to keep the last 4 years, I can't complain about having to buy a used electric heating element for $20.00 since our purchase of the trailer. I won't let it go until I have a replacement.
As for the 91 34' down the road from us, last I checked its still there. Been trying over the last several weeks to set a time with the owner to go over the systems on the trailer, and up until last thursday, I have been getting his voice mail. He did mention that there were two offers, but have to believe that they were low ball prices or he is just going to wait this out for top dollar. A seller like this fellow, quite frankly pisses me off to no end. He knows my interest, but I being the potenial buyer, I'm not interested in chasing the seller. Jeff
