1974 Trailer Value

I am looking at a 1974 31 foot soverign rear bedroom model.

There are 2 basket ball size dents in the front upper corner, and one scrape about a foot long by the kitchen window. there is a new water heater, the person has lived in it for the last 3 years so they say everything is working including the AC.
The cabinets are Ok but not all the tambour is gone. They used fabric drapes for that as well as the room dividers. they took out the full size bed and put a twin on one side and a cabinet on the other. there is no awnings at all. Ad the windows I am told are ok, as well as no rust. They replaced the 2 way fridge with a regular electric one as well.

They want 6000.00 I thought it was worth more like 3 - 4000.00. what is the consensus.

How are the axles and floor? With the dents and scrapes and missing or bad doors, $6000 sounds like too much. 31 footers from the 70's are easy to find and in most cases don't bring that kind of money. Rear end separation was a big item on those units, even with a rear bed.

I agree with Richard, this is too much. Without a propane fridge and the two dents, it's more like $3,500 if everything else is working, including the heater. I have yet to find a vintage Airstream where the heater isn't just a pile of rust. If the heater is out and you think you can either accept or fix the dents, then $3,000.

I guess I am getting better at prices than I thought . Thanks for reassuring me. I really want one, but do't want to pay way to much. It seems everyone wants like double the value, and are getting it in allot of cases.

I will just keep looking, the one for me will surface eventually.

Unless your heart is really set on this one, I think you can do better!! If you plan on towing this one you looking at new axles and even on the cheap its, 1,000 - 1,200. Awning is another 300-500, tires? shocks? it keeps adding up, if it is what you describe maybe its worth $1,000. To fix the basket ball sized dents requires replacement and that is 1,000/panel, oh and a grand for a reefer.. I say keep looking and pass on this one. Sorry to be brutally honest but....
