still waiting

TW Owner is back in town and we spoke briefly Monday night. He did not accept our offer so we increased it a bit. He said he had some other people coming to see the trailer and he would get back with us in a couple of days. We are as high as we are going to go right now so whatever happens . . . happens. Maybe this isn't the right one for us. The search is half the fun.

You have a great attitude and a fantastic bus. Just follow your instincts, and you will do well. It may not seem like it sometimes but there are a lot of vintage Airstreams that are being sold due to the economy. Search and inspect as many as you can. you never know when a anxious seller will pop up and want to unload one very cheaply and quickly. Your job is to be the first one there, recognize a good deal, and have the cash in hand.

Best to you,
Rich the Viking

P.S. Didn't I see you at Burningman? Oh, that was another hippiechick!

It's ours!

Woo Hoo HE is now the PO! He accepted the second offer. We are scheming about when and how we will get her home. We're in that blissful "un-informed optimism" stage of the game. Be kind -don't rain on our parade tonight. There will be plenty of opportunities for that when we start posting all our questions on here in a week or two. Thanks so much for the support and encouragement!

Viking - Look for us at Burningman 2011! Blue bus and 66 TW!

Our girls are looking forward to traveling too!

Tradewinds are great trailers and sounds like she's going to a good home. Suck up all the knowledge you can on these Forums, you can learn how to do anything. Send photos once you get it hippy tricked out. I'm seeing beads hanging from the bathroom entrance.

Very cool Hippiechick!
There are some good threads about picking up Airstreams, and what you should know and what you should bring so you are prepared. Tires, brakes, and bearings are critical to your success. Lights are always a hassel. Buy an auxiliary tail light set if you are unsure about the lights working. If the tires are more than 5 years old I would get new ones on it before moving it. Having a bad tire take out the side of your trailer on the way home is a bad way to start this love affair.
Now go find that camera and show us what you got!

Will 2011 be your first burn?

Oh, and WELCOME to the forums and Airstream ownership!

Rich the Viking

Congrats on the score! It's funny, I found this thread since I also own a 66 TW. The funny thing is that I associated jeep owners, Vespa owners and V Dub fanatics to be in the same lineage. I am all of the above, and to find other Dubbers on here, I know I'm in the right place. I also have a 61 SO 23 original paint Westy and a 66 combi. We are also setting up our 74 ghia vert. Like they say "Great minds think alike". Don't feel too bad about that patch, my TW has two nasty screw / patch jobs on the street side where they replaced the water heater. That's a nice bus you have there BTW.

Love your user name, Rustfalia. Anyone who loves VW's can relate to it!! Sounds like you have some cool "boltsdraggins" As a previous poster said about our patch - it's a patch only a mother could love. ;-)
