'06 Bambi value

Hi,

I am considering purchasing an '06 19' Bambi Safari that has had some minor hail damage. It was totaled by the insurance company and has a salvage title. I will be purchasing this from the insurance company.

This has absolutely NOT been involved in a flood or been in an accident. It simply has very light hail damage that is hard to notice.

Other than the hail marks, it is in like new condition.

If I put $11,000.00 into this, am I paying too much or getting a great deal?

Also, if I want to sell it, are people still buying these in this economy?

Thanks!

Chris

Minor Hail damage and Totaled do not seem to be wrods that go together. Have you seen the unit? Do you have pictures? $11,000 for a 2006 Bambi is a great deal, but, you need to see the evidence. I have a feeling the damage is major, not minor. Just my guess. I note that you are in Minnesota (Twin Cities) like me, so drop me an IM if I can help further.

Knowing it doesn't take much body work to total an Airstream (mostly due to labor costs), I too kind of had a knee jerk reaction when I read light hail damage and totaled. Pictures would help answer the question better.

Thanks for the replies,

The unit actually sold for $16,100. I did not want to bid that much for it. I guessed that I could buy it for around $11,000, but my high bid was $15,500.

I think it was probably well worth the $16,100 that it sold for.

I did see it. Very light hail damage. I assume that the adjuster totaled the trailer by weighing the cost of re-skinning vs. total value of the trailer.

The rest of the trailer was like brand new.

Hi Chris ,
I just found your thead on this , I looked at this Bambi also and bid it up to 16, it was just going to be an investment for me to clean up and sell again. I thought I would resell on Ebay. It was stretching the budget some though, I think my wife was happy I let it go. It was in really nice shape. I did get 3 other pop up campers, one 6x12 enclosed trailer and one 4 wheeler last week to keep me busy. I bid on one other about 5 weeks ago that was almost the same trailer but the inside was vandalised, that was a 2008 safari sp, sold for 13,500.
