What is Average?

Wondering what's the average people keep their Airstreams before upgrading to a newer year model or a different length / floorplan?

I know we are not average as we have had 5 Airstreams. Just wondering what average is...

How many Airstreams have you had?

#1 for 1.166 years. We plan to keep this one until we no longer want to use it. Then we will probably sell it as neither of our daughters has interest in owning it.

Good question. We did the typical "oh that corner bed is so cute" and then I sleep on the couch for 5 weeks. Immediately got home and traded for something a person of 6'3" will be a little more comfortable with.

2012 Flying Cloud 23' 3 months!
2013 Flying Cloud 27' 3 years.
2016 Pendleton 27' a very long time... Hopefully!

19 ft Safari lasted two months but the 25FB has been here for ten years.

Heck after working 1 1/2 years on refurbishing one there is very little desire to change. We like the custom work, modifying to what we like.

Our first AS was a 25' that we loved but got talked into selling it. This one we will keep.

We stumbled into our first one ) a 27' 1977 Overlander and bought it on a whim with absolutely no knowledge about having or utilizing a travel trailer of any sort. We immediately fell in love but realized after some time that for someone who works remotely 40 hours per week for 50 weeks of the year that we needed a separate bedroom/living area that our 27' didn't really offer. Two years after purchasing our 27' we searched for and found our current 1997 34' which we love and works well for us if I have to work while we are in it. We've held onto both campers with the hope that our grown children would utilize the smaller one and camp alongside us from time to time. So far, that hasn't been the case so we may sell one day, or we may keep both for a long time. I don't see a #3 in our future but with Airstreams we've learned to never say never.

Well let's see...I have replaced the bathroom fixtures with something appropriate for a $90,000 RV. I added 16" wheels with Michelin LT's. I have added solar. I have replaced the electrical system with Victron lithiums, inverter/charger, battery monitor and solar controller. I have added an EasyStart to the heat pump. I would have to be a raving lunatic to replace this Airstream. Moreover, I would have to win the lottery to think about another RV and if I did, it would not be an Airstream, at least not as the factory builds them.

Three years so far with our first Airstream. Frankly this will be our last Airstream (for good reasons as we are 100% pleased with it .) If we did decide to continue RV'ing without this particular Airstream, it would be because we had decided to change form factor to a motorhome of some type (likely small diesel pusher Class A) but we are in no rush to make such a move.

Well we have had 3 Airstreams:

- 2003 25' Safari 6 sleeper. Corner bed and corner bathroom led to:
- 2006 28' International Signature. Retirement and marriage led to
- 2015 30' International Serenity.

Will probably keep this one for some time unless Airstream introduces a 34' Serenity!

#1 (2015 FC 19) lasted just over a year; traded that in against a Riverside 195 Retro (22') - cool looking, retro styling, more room, got $18K handed to me upon delivery and way more room AND way, way lighter!

Is it an AS, no, but . . . Maybe someday I'll come back to AS, probably a 22-25 footer

Just 1 - no plans to trade up. I have seen a picture of a Corvette set up to tow a 23. That just might be the way to finish up. But no, we like Glimmer. She will do just fine. Pat

#1) My Yelo Sub 1977 20' Argosy MH 2001-2007 - 7 years
Add a baby to the equation and 20' is too small
#2) 1977 24' Argosy MH 2007-2012 with twin beds in the rear
It was OK but I found a Real Airstream and could not resist
#3 & Current) 1984 27' Excella MH 2012 to now, 5 years so far and till I am dead, but maybe a bit longer if they bury me in it!
This is big enough for the family and the longest vehicle I can fit in my back yard.

Had a '97 Safari for 11 years. Traded for an '07 Classic and have had it for almost 9 years. No plan to trade again but is there any such thing as a 'last' Airstream?
