Dry Ice Trick

I'll defer to wiser minds regarding aluminum but they make small hail dents in steel cars pop out with dry ice held on the dent with a thermal proof glove.

I got hail damage to my truck and trailer in April 2014. The consensus among myself, my wife, the insurance company, and Jackson Center is to do nothing, live with it and enjoy the truck and trailer.

As long as you can't see the dimples from the ground you'll slowly forget they are up there and you'll start to enjoy your trailer like before. Sorry this happened.

I wonder if the Airstream dealer, Bill Thomas Camper near Wentzvile got hit.

I am sort of anal about my stuff, so I would probably get the end caps replaced and leave the roof. Best of luck

Wait, don't the "dimples" improve airflow and make it more fuel efficient to tow? ;$

Glad you figured out the lack of "coverage" before you hit the road!!!

Sometimes it is cool to have an old well used trailer..... and the wisdom of age where I can appreciate a "used but not abused" appearance...

Just wondering - did the insurance company offer you anything
for "reduced value" given that the decision was not to repair, or did you not pursue that possibility?

I created this thread before I bought my first Airstream. Always a worry for me.

I can see about 17 dimples on the rear end cap. There are a couple of dimples on the hood and roof of the truck.

Thanks for all the comments. It's covered now. Haha!
It could have been so much worse. We were lucky.

We don't have a shed, but it wouldn't have mattered. We were in a campground at the time.

I'm curious......how big was the hail that did the damage? We've been camping twice when storms produced small hail (dim size maybe), but luckily no damage. It did make a heck of a racket.

99% of it was dime size or smaller, but there were a few mixed in the were about the same diameter as a quarter. The left rear corner has three dings in it, but as I stated you have to be on a ladder to see them. Maybe the Florida heat will get them started on the healing process. Each other panel (silver) on the ends has one or maybe two small dimples.

Once after an Oklahoma hailstorm, my dad used ice to take the dimples out of the hood of his pickup. Said it was only fair, since ice made the dimples in the first place.

What he did was park in the summer sun where the metal would get good and hot. Then he gently placed an ice cube in each dimple. The cold applied to the hot metal caused it to shrink, and the dimples popped right out. If the light hit the hood just right you could still see the marks left by the hailstones, but they were a lot shallower than before.
