Okay this is my new baby. Since mine are grown and my investments have stopped. I was thinking of fixing her up. She (AS) belonged to my deceased father in law. She sat out in the elements and leaked from sun rotted vent cover. Original certificate still inside closet. I believe it is 1960 Caravel. 2nd picture is floor in entry. 3rd. Is the sink water purifier and fridge.4th picture is the original couch and storage. I think this will be a tough/lengthy frame off restoration. But what a diamond in the rough. I have not learned to navigate this forum but I have never towed either. So I have lots to learn. My husband is freaking out on me "its too small" me: its free. Any words of wisdom? As far as selling....how do you value something you feel is just perfect with TLC and lots of it. The only thing out right that I see missing is commode and propane tank. ugh. totally feeling the no response pain right now. i've put out at least 4 requests for sellers to contact me and haven't heard a peep from anyone in 2 wks.

Trying to be patient, but it's hard.

I think the problem that many of the ads are placed by new no post members. They do not know enough to check back for interest on there ads. Many forums require a new member make a certain number of post prior to placing a classified ad. That should be the policy here, unfortunately management does not apparently agree.

I think you are on to something. And the one's who don't post their phone number, I wouldn't even bother.

We reached out to 4 different people. We actually found our Airstream posted on here, but the guy actually listed his phone number, and we called.

Ditto, same for me last April when I sold my Bambi II and found my Safari. Phone numbers are a must. When trying sell something I will no longer respond to text due to all the crooks and data miners. I had a totally different experience back early last year when the ads were over run by no post scammers. At least that seems to have settled down a bit.

When I posted my Avion at least one if the responses came through as junk. If the seller doesn't check his junk file, he will never see it. Sold the Avion in a couple days.

So then, this poses a question I have. I will be selling a trailer in the spring. In your guys opinion would I be better off posting only a phone number in my ad so as to avoid the infiltration of attempted scammers? At least then I could see their area code...

Yes, definetly put your phone number. Also add a note saying that you will not respond to text. That will stop most of the scammers as that is their preferred method of communication.

Scammers can try to scam with any communications method. I think making yourself as available as possible to potential buyers via phone, text, email, etc. is more important. You can't shield yourself from outside communications if you are wanting to sell something.

Just be careful and be safe. I wouldn't meet a stranger by myself nor invite them to my home to come see something. I would always take precautions. I would never send money to anyone if I am selling. They need to send ME money!

Even though the potential for scamming exists in ANY form of communication you choose to engage in, my opinion is that most folks are honest. Scammers are the exception, not the rule. Don't let them drive you cynical or crazy trying to figure out how to sell something. Use common sense, be skeptical and be safe, but make yourself available! The buyer for your Airstream is out there and needs to get a hold of you!

Some want to sell some don't care I email one in Austin got a quick reply this about a trade not buying before I could reply contacted me to let me know it sold different folks different strokes

My favorite skewed CL add for the day. 1979 Excella for $7k

"Water tight, no leaks" of course followed by "soft spot on floor"

It really grinds my gears that someone would recognize that they rear end sag is common in a 70's model & then say that you don't need to fix anything it's ready to tow!

What is wrong with people?! I just don't get it...

You could always use a "burn phone". I have a cheap phone that I bought at Walgreens that i use only for buying and selling items. Get the one with the lowest minutes. Most of the phones are 90 day phones. When you have sold your Airstream, put the phone in the drawer until the next time you want to buy or sell something. Then pull out the phone and again buy the lowest amount of minutes - this will activate it for another 90 days. Most of the time the unused minutes from before will roll over. A burn phone is good for piece of mind. Once you think the people you are conversing with, you can give them your real phone number should you desire.

Hmm, that could be a good idea to...I like the idea of being able to hear someones voice to connect and see if I get the warning sign heebee geebee feeling ;-)

Ooops, I think I may be a tad bit guilty. Although I posted a phone number, my email on this forum was long out of date. After I updated my e-mail I got responses

Some people don't like to talk on the phone, I am one of the. The phone number in my ad is my husband's.
