Moving up from 22 to 25 fc

Have 2014 22 Bambi and thinking of going to 25 fc with rear queen
The 2019 is quoted as 71324 with 1000 rebate . Is this a good deal ? Or should wait for 2020.
Have tundra 5.7 4 wheel drive for tv is that good

Hi, generally you should see about 15% or so off of list on Airstreams. The 2020’s are already on the lot, so you may want to look around. Check out inventory at the dealers online and don’t be afraid to travel for a deal.

IMHO the Tundra is the best 1/2 ton truck on the market because of reliability. It has ample power to pull the 25’ anywhere. However, you really need to watch the payload rating. Look at the sticker on the driver door post.

I had a Tundra Crewmax and loved it. However the payload was 1300#. Subtract off the 800# hitch weight of our ole 23D and the 250# weight of the topper and there’s not much left for people and stuff.

Depending on the Tundra model you have you may have more payload capacity. If you travel light you might be ok. You need to look at the numbers for your situation and decide.

We were marginal in our Tundra with the 23D according to the numbers, but it always pulled well, stopped well and was very stable...even through the mountains. Now that we’re retired we plan on taking longer trips (caravans) and carrying more stuff so we upgraded to a 28’ FC and an F350 Diesel.

If Toyota made a 3/4 or 1 ton truck, I probably would have bought that.

BTW so far I love the F350 Diesel, but it’s new. If it’s reliability is anywhere near the Tundra, it will be a home run.

FWIW that’s our experience. I hope it helps.

Jim

What is the MSRP of the FC your looking at? Should be right around $90K if it has full awning package and no solar package. Earlier this year we purchased a 2019 FC 25 RBT with a MSRP just under $90K (it was manufactured in Nov. 2018 before price increase) and paid $71K out the door. That included all taxes, initial registration and doc fees. We thought it was a killer deal! If the figure your quoting is an "out the door" price it is pretty good. If you have to add dealer fees, sales tax, and registration it may not be so great. Your decision.

The Tundra should do a great job for you pulling a 25' AS. Pay a visit to a CAT scale and do a 3 pass weigh in. Good info to have just to see if your not over the rated cargo capacity of your Tundra and your hitch is set up correctly. Happy travels.
