How to sell TT

I want to sell my 1989 29' excella. Any thoughts on the best way to approach this would be appreciated; ie, Craigslist, RV trader, eBay. Thanks

Classifieds on this site with good pics, a good description, and a fair price.

Airforums classifieds. Still not foolproof but safer than craigsscamlist.

Hi

Two basic routes:

1) Sell it yourself (as noted above)

2) Sell it to a dealer or broker.

On an older TT, option 2 probably isn't going to be very attractive financially. The dealer will do a lot of work to sell the item. He wants to get paid for that work. There's also a risk and that has a financial aspect to it as well. Even finding a dealer may be impossible.

Going with option 1, you need to do the work the dealer would have done. Dress the beast up. Clean it all out. Do the nonsense repairs that you have put off again and again. That stuff matters. Take a bunch of pictures. Be ready to deal with a bunch of tire kickers all named Bob. Accept that there is no perfect way to execute the transfer process. Higher price will sit for longer than lower price. The tire kicker named Bob will never like your price ....

Also note that a month ago, nobody popped up with "for sale" postings. Now they come up a couple a day. Pretty much everybody is selling right now (it's that time of year). Prices *will* be lower now than next spring. Supply and demand works that way ....

Lots of fun !!

Bob (the tire kicker)

I sold my previous Airstream as a consignment sale through my dealer. When it sold, I ordered a new one. The dealer handled the whole process and I received market value.

Do you know what is market value? Don't use NADA. Do a search and see what similar units are going for.

We sold ours in one day, on Craigslist. Just screen for scammers though, because they're out there!

I had good success by:

1. Placing a well-written premium ad on airstream classifieds
2. Creating the appropriate marketing materials to help potential buyers see the value in the trailer.

I assessed value based on extensive research of similar trailers for sale on RV trader and airstream classifieds. Then factored in the various upgrades, etc.. that I had made.

#2 was key. Attached is the 17 page marketing brochure I created for your reference.

I've listed, (want ads), my 2016 30' FC also, in Ontario. But............
I tried to list it with a couple of photos on this forum, but was unsuccessful in placing the ad.

Had the ad in local area newspapers for a couple of weeks, but no solid bites yet.
I'm not to sure about consigning it to the dealer; I think that I would lose out on that.

My selling price includes everything needed to tie-on-and-go.

Hi

Unless you are in a large metro area, the local ads are unlikely to get to somebody who is after an Airstream. The advantage (and disadvantage) of the online stuff is that it can be searched from anywhere. Just look at the "I got an AS threads" and note how far most people drive to pick them up.

Bob

Several times I attempted to place an ad in the Classified Column, and was unable to for various reasons: wouldn't take the photos, wouldn't recognize my 'membership' and so forth.
Finally, I was able to put it together, and when attempting to pay for it; 'they' wanted "Pay-Pal" instead of a credit card.
I pay by Credit Card, and my card is good.
WHAT THE HELL is this "Pay-Pal"???
