WOW!! Shocking statement.

"Require"..."Self Eteem"????

Glad you still hanging around here...

BTW,,..I looked up you Evergreen RV's and to me, IMO look like... well lets say Less than half the price. To me there is something about that Aluminium inside as well as out that shows quality..on the Newer Streams. They feel soild .I also read that when you push on the walls...well they "give" and are hollowsounding. When you walk in an Airstream it Feels like quality and can be seen..the SOB ..well not so much. Not my Cup of tea. Might as well buy a 5th wheel, IMO..To each ihis/her own.

There is nothing that you can walk into and says and FEELS quality, yet...compared to Airstream,..again IMO.

Just because it isn't a wood floor Isn't gonna change my perspective.

Stream Safe.

The only thing I've seen drain my bank account quicker than my Airscream was a blackjack table in Vegas. It even took my shorts off one day.

YES!! But you have to agree that you get a lot more out of it than losing and walking away empty handed.

I don't think I want to know the shorts story....

Wife and I bought a 1986 Sovereign 31' as our "starter" Airstream with every intention of buying a 28' CCD if we liked the lifestyle.

Well, we didn't.

We LOVED it.

Somehow, though, the 28' CCD never swam back into the picture, We have roughly 20 grand in our Sovereign. It is watertight, has new flooring, new stove/oven, new water heater, new AC and everything works. Everything fabric has been replaced with tropical motif.

It has HUGE closets and under-bed storage. Generous tankage as well.

But wait! There's more!

It is paid for.

And we love it. Sometimes we'll be leaving a campground and turn to see one last flash of silver in a sea of eggshell white fiberglass...

If it sings to you buy it! I love my little AS and I looked at EVERY brand of trailer hoping to find something less expensive but Airstream won! I don't care or look for being better than the Jones's I just like the Airstream better than other trailers. Good luck with your search. Btw I bought used (06) and mines paid for! Makes it even better.

It's obvious people have different priorities and priorities evolve over time. It's true that the appliances are common to all RV's and some are better made than others. But Airstream, for example, is using a cheaper model of converter than the price warrants. There's too much cutting of corners.

RV quality does not compare with automobiles. I have been told by a Thor executive a car isn't as complex, but I challenged him—trailers do not have engines, computers, transmissions, differentials, 4WD, etc. The standards may improve, especially if the Japanese or Germans start making trailers—that's what it took to force US manufacturers to improve their products.

If I were doing it again, I would look at some other brands, but we have been smitten by aluminitus and do like the basic design. I would look in the used market, but if you are new at RV's, it's hard to know what to watch for in the used market. Reading on the Forum helps, but the actual experience of an RV makes a big difference.

One of the biggest thrills is arriving in Jackson Center. The folks there act like they're always glad to see you and that you've come to visit the family.

How true that is! My t@b was designed in Europe and many of the components are still manufactured there. The AS dealer I purchased my Safari 25FB SE from is out of business as is the dealer I was using for service work.

Don't get me wrong, Airstreams are great, but there are other units out there that may not have the cache of an AS, but have quality features every bit on par with an AS.

God Bless the Peoples of the United States of America

"Airsteam is an icon and is Americana..."

That's one reason why this Canadian chose AS. It's my rebellion in response to the "let's bash the U.S.A." mindset which many Canadians subscribe to, unfortunately.

I have always found this behaviour hypocritical as America is our #1 trading partner.

So, if you see a 27' Flying Cloud with Canadian plates, displaying both the Canadian and U.S. flags, come on over and have a cup of coffee as we salute two great countries....the U.S. of A. and Canada.

The one thing I do know, when going through the airstream forums. A lot
of my fellow airstreamers aren't content to just own one airstream ,
but may have two or more.
How many of the S>O>B. trailer owners would do this!!!
I'm convince they are the best trailer on the market!! Just my opinion!!!

Good 2 reasons

1. You can tow them as fast as your tow vehicle can go.

A loaded 31 foot Airstream towed by a Buick Electra, was filmed at 115 mph.

2. Because of the aerodynamic construction, towing an Airstream provides far better fuel economy, BAR NONE.
