Flakey sellers

I've pretty much given up on a Vintage Kin purchase. Leaving out names and places to protect the innocent and guilty alike, a forum member agreed to inspect an Avion C-11 for me at a location some distance from Minnesota. After a positive report from the inspector, the seller and I agreed on price and terms and he was to write up a purchase agreement to formalize the deal before I drove cross-country to retrieve the unit. I haven't heard anything from the seller since, and it's been almost two weeks. No response to calls or email.

At least I didn't drive for a day and a half and then have him fail to show up.

I'm still looking but that particular C-11 was in unusually good, original condition.

Is it in a state with a recent history of floods and severe weather?

Have you been back in touch with the inspector?

No, not that state. And yes, I've been in touch with the inspector, who has been extremely helpful.

Strange - I had a similar situation with what I thought was a flaky seller whom I'd bought an antique canoe from. I'd already paid for it, but the excuses seemed to keep coming week after week why he couldn't deliver it.

It all worked out, and it turned out he wasn't making up the fact he'd been crushed by a barge... when I arranged to have the canoe picked up at his home, sure enough - he was in a wheelchair and bandaged head to foot.

Hopefully your seller comes through, but if not... at least he doesn't have your money!
