This probably isn't the best place for this question, but I didn't really see any place that sounded a lot better.

Has anyone purchased an older Airstream and had the factory do the refurbishing/updating? If so, how does that cost compare to buying a newer trailer? From what I've seen, appliances generally last 10-12 years before needing to be replaced, and I wondered if buying a 15-year-old trailer that hasn't had the appliances replaced, but is otherwise fairly sound, and taking it to the factory for refurbishing and updating would be cost effective.

Has anyone done this?

To my knowledge the only "full" restorations the Mothership has done is on vintage units they own for Historical preservation.

They will do individual repairs, we had a fridge replaced on our 63 Safari. It failed on a cross-country trip and they took us in with an emergency appointment.
Did an excellent job, the Service department has some good people.
