I just delete them. I use Yahoo, and in order to forward it, I have to actually open it. That's a bad choice - most of the emails are just trolling for your info, but the right person can send a virus or worm thru the same email. If you don't open it, your not exposed to the danger. I'd love to send them on to spoof, but am not willing to expose myself to the danger. On top of that I get on average 2-5 fake eBay/Paypal emails per day. Yahoo does a great job of filtering most of them.
If you use Outlook, you've already downloaded the email to your computer and could have your information stolen even if you don't open it.

Virus/Spyware dangers...

Nothing beats having good antivirus and antiSpyware software. Simply downloading email to a machine is very unlikely to infect. Opening the email can start a chain of scripts that infect. Even preview can help to start the scripts running but simply bringing the email to the computer through a POP3 connection is not likely to infect.
Unfortunatly, retaliating to the scammers can get us in trouble. Launching a denial of service attack or starting some bot's to meddle with the site is against the law and can get us good guys in trouble. Voice of experience....

Thats why I ALWAYS use web based email services for my online endevors.

Such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail. I never use outlook for anything because basically, it sucks ! IMOP.

1) Correct - very unlikely, but...why take the chance?
2) Correct - and probably most people have it set to preview, so that makes the first statement invalid. You're now very likely to be infected.

&
3) Sounds like you had a little fun with them

You folks are doing a great service policing eBay, who should be figuring out how to do this themselves. I'm sure you have saved many people from losing their hard earned money. Great work and many thanks, as most people would never even know that you've been doing this outside of those who read this thread.

More clever fun

can't use cut and paste on this one - 280090356197 because the whole page is a "mailto:" I've reported it. It is also in the wrong category. Ever vigilant!

Once again, the same photos (hand-written #7313 on protective film on front, maybe part of the serial number). Wrong categories (two), and Buy It Now price in description, but not in auction. Oh yeah, free shipping in US.
