I just went and looked at this one

Item number: 300039682189 WHAT A TRAGEDY! The pictures DO NOT represent the damage. I am not certain it would tow. I has been laid down on the road side. Severe skin damage to 7' on this side
Curb side rear is severely Crushed. I wish I took my camera. OMG A tree fell on this side, structural damage all the way to the entry door.
1/2 the windows broken.

I guess the statement:
Quote:
*Great for Restoration and/ or Parts!!!
is the sellers way of claiming that he was honest about the trailer.
This is the kind of stuff that gives ebay a bad name.
Did the seller have any comments about the damage that you saw?

It is at a used Camper dealer. Several Airstrems and an Arsosy. There is a '74 out front with a sign claiming it is a 1998, 3 time more than it is worth in the window. What a shame, 80 Exella MH, just plain trashed. Place was closed, probly a good thing too, I was not impressed.....

balrgn ~ you are truly addicted. You have 2 1/2 Airstreams and are out visiting the RV lots. Don't you know that you have the best trailer ever built by Airstream, the 1975 Trade Wind?

Yup, that's the one. I wonder how it rolled on it's side. Only about a 1/3rd of the unit is not damaged...

Hmmm, I question their ethics
There is an Airstream Ambassador there, window sticker states it is a '98, advertisement says it is an '88. the serial # is for a '74.

O-K, so what happens if you bid on one of these and it turns out to be a scam? I really have little experience with ebay. How do these scams work? Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question.

Nothing - IF all you do is bid. If you actually send them money, or "sign in" to the alleged eBay link. If you "sign in" using the link they provided, then they hijack your account and use it for further fraud. If you "buy it now" by contacting them at the email address listed, then you lose all the money they can sucker out of you.

Most of the scams have a "buy it now" option for wayyyy under retail. They have a poor grasp of the english language, usually want contacted at an email address provided in the listing, saying the "contact seller" link goes to their spam box or something similar to that. The seller usually has multiple listings with deals that are to good to be true, sometimes even identical items listed more than once.

If you're looking at one that seems to be to good to be true, post the item # here and someone will be more than happy to take a look at the listing.

Here it is. I am sure it is a scam. Seems to fit your profile.

Absolutely a SCAM!

"email is locked"
Price is way under retail
Buy It Now - contact me through my email
Multiple items listed for well under retail

and here's the kicker - this is an active account that has real items listed by the real seller in the United Kingdom, but all the Scam items are here in the US!
