Thats why I ALWAYS use web based email services for my online endevors.
Such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail. I never use outlook for anything because basically, it sucks ! IMOP.

Unfortunatly, retaliating to the scammers can get us in trouble. Launching a denial of service attack or starting some bot's to meddle with the site is against the law and can get us good guys in trouble. Voice of experience....

1) Correct - very unlikely, but...why take the chance?
2) Correct - and probably most people have it set to preview, so that makes the first statement invalid. You're now very likely to be infected.

3) Sounds like you had a little fun with them

You folks are doing a great service policing eBay, who should be figuring out how to do this themselves. I'm sure you have saved many people from losing their hard earned money. Great work and many thanks, as most people would never even know that you've been doing this outside of those who read this thread.

More clever fun
can't use cut and paste on this one - 280090356197 because the whole page is a "mailto:" I've reported it. It is also in the wrong category. Ever vigilant!

Once again, the same photos (hand-written #7313 on protective film on front, maybe part of the serial number). Wrong categories (two), and Buy It Now price in description, but not in auction. Oh yeah, free shipping in US.

This is something I just can't understand. I checked the air stream auctions every morning. Just out of curiosity, I love to look to see what's out there. Even though I've already bought one. The format they use seems to be the same every time. Buy it now but not through eBay, don't e-mail me to contact buyer (I can't get to my e-mail as I am away from work for a week, or eBay's contact information is too slow something like that). They seem to like to add the fact that they'll ship it free anywhere in the US, this is something I just don't understand at all anybody in their right mind knows that there is a such thing as free shipping when it comes to a 5000 pound trailer. A too good to be true price always a dead giveaway. $2900, $5,900 two figures that always seems to be stuck in her mind. It must be the same person or group of people because of all these sales look so similar. Every time I see one I just report it to eBay. Sooner or later they cancel it. I just hope that no one gets caught in these scams.

Then again even dealers prompt new as used on their websites...

1) Should be a dead giveaway - unfortunately not always the case.
2) See post # 495 - They continue to scam only because it works

Here is one of over 600 items listed by this scammer!
eBay: 1954 Airstream Trailer - 22ft Flying Cloud (item 120096150956 end time Mar-11-07 00:52:11 PST)
It is not nearly as good as some of the other scams I have seen. I wonder how long it will take ebay to pull these?
No Pictures, but these comments... - Perfect conditions.
- No damage on it.
- Cleat Title.
- 6 Months Warranty.
- No need any reparation in the nearest future.
- Extremly low milles.
This is a 54 Flying Cloud with extremly low miles
Don't forget free shipping and 14 days money back!

I just love the low miles part. And just how do you track that? Mine didn't come with an odometer. Anyone else have one of these?

I wanted to have one, but the odometer wasn't working, so I put in a pedometer instead .

There is one, it is called a hubometer. Getting one for the size tires we have on our trailers is very difficult, most are for semi/equipment trailers with 20" tires. Not that I believe the low mileage thing, either.

You want to know how accounts are hijacked?
I've reported this but it may still be up... if you search for airstream trailers on ebay and then look for the item with three scantily clad women in the picture.... click on the item... 32009022276 in the url... it will take you to a log in page... DON'T LOGIN! look at the url that you were redirected to... it is not an ebay url... anyone typing in their ebay username and password will have their account hijacked and used to perpetrate scams...
just thought you'd like to see one in action...
regards
.........just checked back... it is gone... apparently ebay acts pretty quickly on this type of thing
