They've gotten a little more sophisticated - anywhere you click on the page is a "send email to" link. You can't clcik any of the links, like report this auction or see sellers other items!

He's got 107 items listed!

Again today. This morning, no frauds as I was skimming the newly listed. Now, 4 hours later, there were over 6 items (Airstream only-- I didn't go into every item they had) I found. I reported all of them, but this person or persons have really ramped up the frauds lately.

This scam is getting old.. That same dude has 3- 5 different auctions every week on different hijacked accounts. I don't even know how many I've reported to eBay so far. It looks like he has now went to the trouble and has added a generous offer to finance his scam at 0% APR. What a deal! Not only does he take your $5600 you give him your Social Security number and he'll even hijack your credit.

This time they've hijacked an active user with current listings! They've done that before, but not as often.
All reported.

Yea, they closed one of the vans today, but another popped up.

What I wonder is how all these folks could have their accounts compromised and hijacked. One or two here or there, but these have been going from 2-3 every day or so to nearly 6-8 per day for the past few days. Thats a lot of accounts getting stolen.

You've got to pay close attention to the emails you open. I'm an active user, and I get around 4-5 fraudulent eBay emails a day on average. My rule of thumb is to NEVER open an email unless I know who it is from, or know it is genuine. eBay added a good feature awhile back that any email from them is in your inbox on eBay also. If I suspect an email is fraudulent, I check eBay - if it's not there also it's fake. (That and the really bad grammer or spelling are dead giveaways!)
I'm guessing these people are opening the fraudulent emails and responding.

I guess that must be it. I am also an active member and I think I've only seen one fraud email in about 3 years.

Guess since I'm in technology I'm the skeptic. All I can say is that is a LOT of folks not thinking twice. I too have lost track of all the ones I've reported. If I had to guess all the frauds I've seen, it's easily in the 50 or so range. Add the ones I haven't seen that others have and that could put it well over 100 in just the last month or two.

Today over 100 fraudulent listings by these people thru two different sellers. I fired off an email to eBay telling them they needed to do a better job of filtering these. If we can find them simply by searchinig "Airstream" then they should be able to create a filter to search out these fraudulent ads and immediately end them.
It would be simple. The ads all have an email address listed other than the "contact Seller" link, they all say Buy It Now, but are listed in auction format. They list the exact same ad over and over again, they usually have a tractor, boat and other type of equipment listed. I think eBay needs to step up and take some responsibility here

FOR SALE eBay

It is rather sad eBay can’t keep up with such a blatant scam. The schemers and scammers hide in every corner of the world including eBay. However, eBay maybe slipping a little ol’ Meg Whitman and Bill Gates maybe on a path to merger. Perhaps a leaned out eBay has them ripe for top dollar from MSN? CEO Meg has her eye on fighting Congress on new internet legislation. So what to do??? It’s up to us to be the skeptic, trust your gut,
We must watch our own backs.

Better Password breaking software...

Learned a lot recently about password breaking technology, hashes and windows passwords... All numeric or all letter passwords can now be busted by amateurs (not just the NSA) in minutes to a few hours rather than days or long hours of hacking, using better technology and pre-computed tables of lengthy encrypted password equivalents... I suspect a lot of folks have short cute easy-to-remember passwords on E-Bay...

If you should have one of those, and prefer not to get hijacked, try 8 characters with upper and lower case letters mixed in among the numbers...(and if you have to write it down to remember it anyway, it isn't a real time waster...)
