Why do you think these scammers are being so persistent with listing so many Airstreams? And, why have they seemed to focus on Airstream?

It must take them a fair amount of time to work up every listing they do, then have it poofed a short time later. Perhaps they are actually getting some takers on every 1 listing out of 100, so the law of averages makes it worthwhile for them. I bet they have other "attractive" product listings on Ebay as well.

With so many of these fradulent listings recently, apparently by the same person or persons, you'd think that Ebay or the police would be able to track them down if they wanted to, and put them out of business. Perhaps there is just too much of this type of thing going on for Ebay to monitor adequately.

There's now a link to Report ads right at the bottom of each listing. They just started that this week. It saves time.

I think they're striking out completely on the Airstreams thanks to our vigilance. But they probably figure every harvested email address is a ripe sucker for their 411 (is that right?) scams.

419 scams

sk-

I think it's a 419 scam, named after the Nigerian law.

I just received the following email. Is this what the scammers use to get access to your Ebay or Paypal accounts? It almost looks legitimate. You can click on the "Dispute Transaction" section shown in blue (I didn't), where I'm sure you can give them lots of good info on your account: (Of course I don't know anything about this supposed transaction.)

From: "PayPal" <service@us-paypal.com>
Subject: Payment notice from Sonycollectorusa

It looks legit, sort of...BUT I would go into my paypal account from my browser, not an email link. Then if you find an issue you can report it from there. I don't trust any email from any financial institution, asking for information or to click thru on something. I will got to the website on my own.

oooh....that's a good one...that would have gotten a rise out of me. I've never seen that before and I thought I've saw and heard them all. Thanks for the heads up....and I'm sure that the Dispute Transaction is were they want you.

My friend got one the other day saying they wanted him to be a Toyota Rep and oversee transaction in the states...blah blah blah and they'd pay him $30,000 to start and to let them know his paypal # and his address...I think they wanted him to be the middle man for the scammer accounts was the way I figured it out. When they ask you for anything to do with Paypal though that's usually a dead giveaway...they had my friend....he thought it was a real Toyota business offer. These guys are getting way to smooth.

Yes it is a crock!

There is way too much info he is spewing about the ebay motors protection plan , then the sick person , bone marrow transplant ! Believe me 5600 bucks would barely pay for the first night in the hospital these days . I dont like to do an ebay purchase where the person does not accept pay pal . It seems odd cause you get paid for selling your item right into your pay pal account. The customer pays ,you ship it out!!
