We just saw that same ad posted in Eugene, OR. We are working at pulling more info from the person, but I don't think we will get too far. When we googled their email address, it turned up in a variety of scam reports.

Yes, that desire to wound them exists. Wish there was some form of legal recourse, but for now, it seems they are getting away with people's money.

There must be some magic to that number. They also seem to at the $ sign to the number, use a png or jpg instead of typing (to save time) and still make lots of money.

They listed a 19 foot and sent us pics of a 16 foot. We cracked up at that one.

Craigslist sucks when it comes to protecting their users from this kind of scammer. I flagged this same ad about fifteen times in the last two days.

Cool - this Safari has an engine

An engine and, even though it's in Orlando FL, it's been winterized! Yippie. Flagged!

Oh, and it's listed in Denver CO and Springfield MO too. Guess the winterizing makes more sense out there! Flagged and Flagged!

I installed a new water heater, brakes, wheel bearings, deep-cell battery and an optional spare tire carrier and tire. We also replaced the existing carpet with easy to maintain laminated wood flooring and we were ready to go camping. Then, our employment situation unexpectedly changed leaving us very little time to camp.It has been always winterized and very well maintained. It has a clear title and the engine runs very well. The sleeping capacity is 6.It has A/C and the length is 25 feet.I never had any problems with it and never been involved in any type of accident. It will come with a new set of tires. For any additional questions I can be reached at :

No scammer here, I bought my Airstream from him. This could be a good buy for someone. It is about 70 miles from Atlanta.

There are so many Bambi scams on craigslist that "Bambi" is now a bad word!

I was trying to post an ad for my Bambi 19' on my local craigslist without success, when I removed the work "Bambi" from the title line the ad went through!

Here's another one...

This one claims to be service man deploying to Iraq...

---Airstream 25 FB Camper RV---

Here is the reply I got when I inquired about it:

Hello there,
First of all, I'm sorry for the delay, but I just moved in a new place and i wasn't able to check my email until now.
I am the legal owner of this beautiful and rare 2010 Airstream.
First of all I want to let you know that the car is available, it's in perfect condition, clear title, free of encumbrances and liens. I bought it when I was serving in Fort Stewart, GA.
I have dropped my price to $2800 (purchase price) since this is an urgent sale and I need to sell it before 24 April, when I will be deployed in Iraq with my company replacing the troops scheduled to come home. I have decided to use Google Checkout for this sale . The rv is already at our Military Logistic Department form Fort Stewart, U.S. Army, crated and ready to go.
The Logistic Department will deliver the car to your home. I will offer a 10 days period to inspect the rv from the moment you receive it. The shipping will be free for you! I'm currently stationed in London, United Kingdom until 24 April, when I will be deployed to Iraq. This is why I must sell it before that.
If you agree with my price $2800, I need your FULL NAME AND ADDRESS, so I can inform Google Checkout that I have a buyer! I will forward your details to them and then you will receive an invoice(with no further obligations or fees). Like this you’ll be able to talk with them directly and ask all you want to know.

PS: If there are any questions left please don't hesitate to ask. I can provide you more photos & details if you are interested to buy it.

Claiming to be the actual soldier is new... I've been a couple of the filthy scumbags claiming to be the surviving spouse of someone killed in action, or the spouse of someone who's been deployed and they suddenly had to move, etc. etc.

It's not bad enough for them to be thieves trying to steal money from people, they have to also pretend to be among our most honorable citizens in the process. I think they should suffer an extra penalty beyond the legal consequences of fraud, but this is a family site so I won't go into detail.

Green68 -- Wow! He's selling it for the same $2800 he paid for it. Mighty nice of the guy. Anybody can list on Craigslist evidently.

It'd be curious checking out any email you received from this person. Depending on what email program you use, there's got to be a 'properties' option in your email to check what IP address he used to send his email. Google on the searchwords "IP trace" and you'll find some sites that will let you copy-paste in his IP address and find out what country he was posting from.

It's curious reading this thread that Craigslist may be filtering out listings that even use the word 'Bambi.' I'm a'feared that my 25' FB is next to go -- and I'll see even less than $2800 out of it. But no ... ... we're happy campers and hanging with it for the long run.

Thanks for the report!

Gosh! I see the problem here...he is just an honest servicemember serving our great country. Come on guys, cut him some slack! Clealy he is battle fatigued, and perhaps suffers from a bit of shell shock, because he keeps referring to his AS as a car. Poor guy! Heehee

here's a new one on Craig's list

Here's a new that I found on Craig's list. They want to sell it for $2800.00.

I have just purchased a Class A motorhome, and as such, am placing my 2004 Airstream International CCD 16' Bambi for sale.

I emailed him not knowing it was a scam (till I read the email and got a funny feeling about it and then check this thread out on here) and this is what he said in the email.

Hi Meredith,
Thank you for your interest in purchasing the 2004 Airstream I have for sale. The unit is in perfect working condition, garage kept, with nothing mechanically wrong - like new! If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manual, keys, and the clear title . The final price is is $ 2,800 with shipping costs and insurance included. My wife died 2 months ago and I along with my daughter we decided to sell the house and move to my sister in Miami, FL. I can't afford to take days off my work for this sale so I'm trying to sell it online.
For this transaction I want to use Yahoo! Autos because I want to have a smooth and fast transaction . If you decide to buy the camper you will have to send the payment to Yahoo! Autos and they will hold the money into a trust account until you receive and inspect the Airstrean . ONLY AFTER you receive the unit and you inspect it (for 5 days) they will release the payment to me. This is a fast and safe escrow transaction. The inspection time period will begin as soon as you receive the Airstream at your requested address. During all this time Yahoo! Autos will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the Airstream before decided to buy it. In this way we are both protected.
If you are really interested in purchasing the Airstream please send me your full name, shipping address and your phone number. Yahoo! Autos will notify you all the details about the shipping and payment.
I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible .

Here you more pictures : Pictures by garynsmii - Photobucket
Best Regards!

So watch out!

I actually have the person who has been posting these scams on the hook right now. They think that I'm sending them a western union payment, but somehow things keep getting "messed up". I have had them resend me pictures over and over and have handed off the transaction from one "partner" to another, who has to be entirely caught up on the deal by this scum bag (who actually has the nerve to get upset about it(.

Here's how despicable this person is: I actually told them it was for an orphanage that we ran, and that the children would be sooo excited to go camping... you think this would be enough to make any human stop and think, but it didn't, pretty gross.
I'm just wasting as much or their time and frustrating them as much as possible.
What I wouldn't give to meet this guy in a dark alley.

Airstream liars

This must have been the same people that I have flagged a dozen times...I followed them from Winston Salem NC, to Las Vega, to California, up to Oregon, and then to Utah....Flagged them every step of the way...The good one they typed up was an International Bambi, with an up grade Safaria le package.......They also had an add run just resently in Little Rock Ar, for the same amount of Money, and the same LINE about being in the service and not being able to take off work...but they were selling the little fiberglass trailer in the ad. Scum bags !! I sure woulde like to get my hands on them....
