Airstream Rebates

As an FYI, just got an email from Airstream Marketing noting the following rebates on 2015's: $750 off the Sport; $1,000 off the Flying Cloud, International, and Eddie Bauer; $1,500 on the Land Yacht; and $2,000 on the Interstate Touring Coach.

Nice marketing ploy, but the phrase "drop in a bucket" comes to mind when the rebate is compared to the MSRP.

I do not believe in rebates anyway, because I know how they work. They don't really benefit the consumer; they only benefit the dealer. The explanation of why that works is just as convoluted as any other dealer sales gimmick, but sad to say, no one offers you money unless they can make more money from giving it to you.

I agree that rebates are a gimmick. However, they often signify that a manufacturer has an oversupply of an product and wants to move out that supply. Given the backlog of orders for Airstreams, it seems interesting that they would need to revert to a sales gimmick and indicates there may be some deals to be had on the leftover 2015's. Of course, there should be the usual hefty discounts off of list in addition to the nominal rebates.
