74 Safari Scam or Not? Anybody in CDA Idaho or Spokane WA?

I just had the strangest thing happen. I replied to a craigslist ad for a 1974 Safari listed in Spokane, WA that looked beautiful for $6500. The first time I called, a lady answered and said it was sold. Two hours later, a guy calls back and says it's still available. He said he needs a small deposit via western union (even though I'm only 4 hours away) to hold the trailer. I told him sorry, not going to do that but I'm still very interested and will leave right now to make the 4 hour trip to pick the trailer up. He says thanks for your time and hangs up. I call back and I try to get an address to look at the trailer, he says don't bother showing up because he is sure it will sell before I can make it over and if your not going to play by my rules don't bother coming over. Does this sound fishy to anybody else or is this guy just grumpy??? My wife and I have missed so many trailers due to timing and have lost hope of finding one to use this summer but I'm not willing to send money via western union to hold a trailer that I'm not even sure exists.....I hate getting all excited that I might have found "My trailer" and then have it go up in smoke.

Does this sound fishy? You bet! Insisting on a deposit before you even see the trailer.. refusing to give you an address so that you can see it... Yikes! I'm curious... how much is the "small deposit" he is requiring? My advice... If it looks like a fish and smells lilke a fish... My wife says this deal smells like a three day old dead fish out in the hot sun. I'd be patient and wait for the right Airstream to come along.

I agree. He wanted $200. It would have been more convincing if the lady said it was still for sale. I got all excited for nothing! Oh well. At least I still have my money. All the other sellers seem very friendly and helpful. This guy just sounded jaded and sketchy. It might still be posted on the Spokane WA Craigslist as Airstream $6500

Hi, even if this is not a scam, I would not deal with some-one like this or without actually seeing the trailer first. No address either? With their attitude, I would not want to even look at the trailer. Move on.
