1st time seller guidelines in Texas

I clearly don't know what I'm doing. This is my 1st post. Please forgive my ignorance. My cuzin received an email from a prospect buyer that wants to pay full asking price for his '52 Airstream Cruiser, viewed only by photos, by PayPal. Then the buyer will hire someone to haul it away. Once the money is in his PatPal account & the '52 is hauled away, is the money safe from any reason the buyer might try to get the money back?

Be very very cautious about ANY transaction like this. There are a huge number of scammers out there using this exact tactic. Get cash or check with your local bank on the security of electronic transfers. DO NOT DEAL WITH A THIRD PARTYAND LET THEM HAUL IT AWAY!

This has been a very common scam recently. There are several variations of this, but this is how it works.

You agree to sell your item via the PayPal payment. You send your information to the buyer and shortly after you receive an email confirmation from PayPal that there has been a transfer to your account. There is also a link to PayPal for you to confirm the transfer. The problem is that the email is a phony and the link is to a clone of PayPal which was setup by the scammer.

The clone PayPal site will look real and asks you to log into your account. If you do this, the scammer now has 100% control of your PayPal account and the scammer will immediately change the password and you will be locked out. The scammer will transfer as much money as possible out of your account in the next few minutes and then sell your information to other scammers.

These people have no interest in the product, it's the PayPal account they are after. Most of these people operate from outside of this country and will never be brought to justice.

Louis, run far and run fast. Kudos to you for asking but the answer is PayPal is NOT going to be there to protect you. They will reverse the transaction and leave you hanging in the wind.

do not use paypal for this type of transactions. so many scams. on ebay, they will buy a product, and 'return it' (usually a brick in the box) then they have a tracking # to show ebay they returned the item and they get thier $$ back from you. Same can apply if used via paypal ; they pay you , someone takes the trailer and they say they never picked it up. AVOID. get cash or a money order or bank check.
