Don't know what Toyota you have, but I tow my 17' Casita (about 3500 lbs loaded) with a Toyota FJ Cruiser 4L V6, and it does very well.

Buy the trailer you want. If the tow vehicle proves inadequate replace it.
You will likely have your trailer many more years than your tow vehicle.
I have trailers that i have owned for almost 40 years but have been through many tow vehicles in that time, and i don't trade frequently. (565K on the present one)

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread so far is that if you finance an Airstream, the interest can be written off as a second (or first?) home on your taxes. Certain requirements must be met, but most of Airstreams in working order would meet the minimal requirements, if financed.

toyota 4cyl is not enough information lol

is it 1995 tacoma 4cyl regular cab,2wd then max 2000 lbs. If it is later version they can handle little more weight and motors have more power may not be issue. I towed 17foot boats with 99 tacoma trd v6 with bilstein shocks, motor is fine 190hp but trucks springs are weak and can be upgraded. Casita should be no problem, new AS is pretty beefy even 16
