Favorite Mod Under $100
OK all you AS "gurus" this is your chance. For those who have towed for awhile, been to some ralleys or caravans, or are just creative...what is the best mod you have done (or see) that cost under $100.

Three items we added to our AS are a 7-bottle upright wine storage rack made of velcro strips screwed to the space beneath our refrigerator (about $7), a 12-volt plug in the street-side midside compartment above the wheels for connecting an air compressor (about $8), and an aluminum bar bent at both ends with omega-shaped fairleads on the door and the body to hold the door in the 90-degree open position so we can open the kitchen window (about $9).

We put insulated windshield protectors on all the windows in our safari for about $30. We bought three of the winshield reflectors at Camping World for $10 each. These are the big one for class A mohos. They cut very nicely and are held in place by the curtains in the Airstream. We were even able to cut a piece for the skylight that I wish we didn't have. This system works great for storage and traveling.

Buy 2 bottles of excellent wine - then go camping, drink it with your friends while looking at your Airstream. 2 bottles of nice wine - $ 80.00. Some brie and crackers - $ 15.00. Enjoying with friends in your Airstream - priceless!

So true...
Uwe,
Spoken like a true Californian. What is your favorite wine?
I prefer the Cabs, Pinots, Zins, and anything else red.

Jerry,
My warm weather favorite is a dry Chardonnay, chilled.
When temps dip below 55 ( brrrr......) I prefer a Merlot or Cabernet.

I don't drink wine, so instead I replaced my old horn with a very loud aftermarket 135db one. Then I installed a "oogaa" horn so that my kids knew I was at their mom's house to pick them up without my having to see her face to face. Then i installed a daytime driving light kit so that my lights go on with ignition and off when I shut down (one too many dead batteries when forgot to turn off lights.) All the above bought from JC Whitney for about $80.00. I'll be doing the LED light thing next as above but in red (I think).

Don't know if you guys been divorced before, but the oogaa was well worth the money! And I won't buy kegs...did you hear about the one exploding in someone's face a few weeks ago in the news? Granted, I could use the other 20 bucks saved for some nice ale though, hmm.

You could goto Club La Villa and probably get the hook up on those kegs. If not you can try off front beach road...plenty of neat little shops with mods for the younger crowd (Purple Haze, Magic Mushroom, etc) Finish the kegs off with some ribs at Pineapple Willy's and you are set!
Oh yeah, my favorite mod was my new "DiamondPlate" rockguard. No current pics, but coming soon to a thread near you.

Been a long time actually. My good friend moved there in 1996. I went to visit in 98. He worked at Winn Dixie at the "Y". He lived on escanaba right behind the shell on middlebeach road. I always used to have fun when I was there, but the strip gets too crowded when people are cruising at night.

XM Radio ranks number one favorite mod for under $100 (hardware only of course).
Indoor/outdoor weather station from the Weather Channel next.

Where did you mount your outdoor weather sensor.
I have Sirius radio in my truck, someone on the forum provided the tip to just park close to the trailer and tune in the signal, works great.

Hey there Jim,
We mounted the indoor panel on the upper Kitchen cabinet adjacent to the entry door. I mounted the outside unit adjacent to the entry door hinge with Velcro tape. Works great and stays in place when I forget to remove it and place it indoors for travel.
