Door accessibility for wheelchair ramp

We just purchased a 1995 Land Yacht Le and want to widen the door to accomodate my son's wheelchair. My son is looking forward to camping once again. First, does anyone know the true size of the door? The specifications are not listed for this. Also, any help with finding this mod anywhere local to Ohio, Indiana or Ky?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure the answer is on the forum somewhere. I know you will have a great time camping.

Paml,
I am not sure of the specifications, but a woman at Penn Wood Airstream Park has a 1997 33' Lanyacht mobile home that already has a wheel chair lift. It was for her husband who passed away last year and she is trying to sell it now. It is listed on the Airstream of Western PA's Internet site here...

Airstream 1997 33' HANDICAP LANDYACHT

There are quite a lot of photos if you hover your mouse over the photo strip in the addvertisement. Maybe you can get some ideas from the pictures. Or the dealer might be able to put you in contact with the owner to find out who did the modifications.

We found a company in Amelia Ohio that specialized in custom modifications for commercial vehicles that took on our project. They gave us a good price and you would never know by looking at the door that it was even handicap accessible. They did a great job. This is a much cheaper alternative for those wheelchair users that can use a portable ramp.

Now we have just been waiting for the weather to break to go camping again.

We recently completed a 36" door modification for an Airstream we built for the non-profit organization First 5 Fresno. I will post photos for you.

Hi
I am trying to have a 19 foot bambi door modified for a wheelchair also bathroom.
This is for an art project non profit for a photographer who has had 2 brain bleeds and now is in a wheel chair and is highly disabled.
He wants to make it into a photo processing solar studio to pull on a cross country, photography challenge.

Any how love to get details how we can find someone on east coast who could work with him on this. i have reached out to the dealer.

How you opened the door up and made it lift suitable. Cost?
Thank You

Ours was modified to be ramp accessible as we didn't want to spend the extra for a lift at this time. I am sure that the place in Amelia Ohio would work with you for a lift also. They are very nice and helpful.
