What are the different widths of Airstreams?

Gidday everyone,

I am looking at importing a Airstream to NZ. There are a few issues as I can not license one down here wider than 8' which limits me to a 23' or smaller. If I could find an older one that's width is 7'6" I could chuck it in a container which cut the shipping by half.

Does anyone out there know of particular models which are 7'6" or less?

Cheers,

John

Airstream makes a European model which is narrower than 8' at 7' 6". I saw one while at the factory Dec. '07. They are easily recognizable with their triangular orange/red reflectors on each corner of the rear bumper.

Safari 19, 20 and 23' models have 8' widths, larger models have 8'6" widths.

Safari Sport models have 7' 3 1/4" widths.

If you are looking for an older model, the Minuets were narrow models.

The stuff built before 1969 is also narrower by about 6". They are also lower to the ground, and the roof isn't as tall, both good things to know if placing in a container.

Petethefeet is a forums member in NZ that has imported a few trailers. He can probably tell you how to do it. He also has some very interesting threads going on his restorations. I suggest sending him a PM.

Airstream for NZ

I have a very respectable 1968 Airstream Overlander 26' International for sale. It has a lot of well taken care of original contents. Cabinets, closets, cabinet doors, bath, windows etc. Depending on your plans this AS needs very little to be comfortable and useable. The exterior has minimal damage with the exception of 2 very noticeable / repairable dents that are in the pictures I can send. I can send pics via e-mail if that will be of assistance. JC
