UK conversions -HELP

I am shipping to the UK but want to get the conversions done state side. I can't find a definitive answer on what legally has to be done to my Caravel to make it legal in the UK/Europe. Can anyone help - PLEASE. I keep getting conflicting opinions and I can't find any official government info. Thanks Anna

Conversions

Hi Anna,

What exactly are you hoping to get done stateside? You'll need the 120 to 240v conversion plus ringmain and lights. I am a Motorhome expert but my understanding is that the trailers are road legal in the UK i.e. you don't have to get the axels looked at. You'll find that the electricla conversions are pretty straight forward over here. We have top notch companies make soft start transformers designed for the 120/240. The lights are tricky but if you know what you are doing it just takes some time. We can help you if you like. Drop me a line in the private messages and we'll see what we can do.

best

Booms Sounds is correct, Trailer lighting is tricky but not insurmountable.

Your biggest headache will be braking. Nearly all AS trailers (and other US Caravans) are electric brakes. - No problem there, but you need to install a brake actuator in the tow vehicle (Buy in the States). - It is hard wired to the trailer via the umbilical. In the past we have changed the wiring to the 13 pin cable to accept this and the other charging/fridge requirements.

The other headache? In most cases the chassis does not have corner steadies or parking brake. I have a contact in the US who fits the EU chassis - I could do it here but at present snowed under with work.

Don't forget, you cannot ship the gas bottles with it - any way the 6Kg over here is readily available - keep the regulator.

Any queries call/PM me or Boom Sounds
