Shipping Recommendation

Just wanted post a recommendation if anyone needs a transporter within US.

We used Denan D&T (Driveaway and Towaway) to tow our '74 Tradewind. We found them on Uship and now consider them friends. Elizabeth was wonderful!!! She and her husband run a very professional and reliable business. We were impressed to say the least. They gave us a very reasonable bid to ship across country. She contacted us every day (at least once if not twice a day) to update us on her location and progress. Elizabeth was such a nice and friendly person we would love to use her for any future shipments. Warm, trusting, professional and honest. Went above and way beyond our expectations and needs.

It was towed behind a Ford (250) and the cost worked out to a bit less than $2,000.00 for towing from South Carolina to Lake Tahoe (door to door). We figured out, later, that they bid us less $ per mile than we could have done ourselves (I can't remember the exact amount per mile but if you would like I can look it up)! No additiional or hidden costs. They wouldn't take a tip. So we took Elizabeth to lunch They make up for it by arranging additional deliveries on the way back. Here is their "profile blurb":

Welcome to Denan D&T (Driveaway and Towaway). We are a husband and wife team with over 50 years combined towing and driving experience. We are able to carry up to 26,000 lbs. combined weight on your trailer or ours. We have hookups for 5th wheel, gooseneck and bumper pull. Our licensing includes CDL A with XP endorsement. We are fully insured and DOT legal! Our driving records are spotless. look us up on SAFER WEB We will be able to give you reasonable pricing with on time delivery. All bids include tolls and permit fees. We believe your cargo should be treated as if it were our own, therefore we will take the utmost care and caution in our route. Our team will be in contact with you on a daily basis when we have your item in transit. Pre-delivery wash available on request! Give us a call for a superior haul! We look forward to working for you!

Regarding your visit to CA...I had no choice given the short notice of purchasing our AS and I had to go to CA anyway so I paid the big bucks! Rest assure that after my one excellent and expensive stay in Long Beach I have booked all my trips until the end of the year!
A couple of thoughts, on your way there save money and drycamp at Walmarts. They are safe and I have yet to have a problem. Next, IF you can, try to stay a week in one place and just use it as your heaquarters. Weekly rates are a lot less than daily or even just weekends.

Also, you can get a $12.00 membership to Good Sams (thru Camper World) and lots of places give you 10% discounts.

Also, Fairgrounds around the country often have limited RV parking etc.....normally these are unpublished and really cheap ($10.00 for hook up).
I know they do it at the Orange county fairgrounds....check into that.

Lastly, as a last resort I stayed at a great place in Long Beach with a view of the Queen Mary at the Golden Shores RV Resort 562 435-4646 it was expensive $37.00 a night but pool, spa, laundry, lawns and the works, plus it was the only place I could get in on.
(If you do end up there, say hello to Larry (the resident nightman and mechanic) who really helped me out with my maiden voyage and little issues I had)

Also, on onother occasion I chose to stay in Oxnard (Malibu and all were to much$$$$), I stayed at a place called Paradise Villas, right off the 101 and Vinyard, with a weekly rate of $185. Good Luck
P.S. Everyone before is correct, I used to live there and San Onfre Beach as well as Doheny Beach are great surfing!
