Prince Edward Is to St. Paul, MN; am I crazy?

I found a 31' Classic on Prince Edward Island and am about to close the deal. I have no experience with importation and transportation of an RV from Canada to the US. Does anyone have a rough estimate of the cost to import an Airstream back into the US? Are there fees and taxes?

As for transporting it, a couple of RV dealers, CamAm and PEI Home & RV are asking their haulers for ideas. Maybe if they are dead heading they could get the trailer closer to my MN location and I could haul it the rest of the way. Any suggestions?

How crazy is it for me to buy and ship a trailer from so far away?
Bob

If it were me I would go and get it. No substitute for personal inspection.

I bought mine from a fellow in Albuquerque and drove it home to Virginia.

Hi Bob,
I am an Airstream transporter, and am in and out of Canada frequently. The best advise I have is to do all of your paperwork after purchasing it state side. Go to Canada with your tags and insurance. Then bring it across. Then you are no more than a traveler...
I know the guys at CanAm, great crew.
If you need more help let me know.
RJ

Hi Bob again,
Just so you know. When I ship a trailer into Canada I use a broker service due to they only have certificate of origins. My fees crossing back into NY are $10.75.
When I ship back privately the fee is about the same because taxes and such are usually paid at the DMV.
Best
RJ
