My 31' 1985 Airstream Excella is in Batton Rouge, Louisiana and I need to get it to LA. Any idea/advise on how, who, where, how much?!

I thought I'd drive there and bring it back but was hoping to find someone who wants to take a trip to LA and enjoy the Airstream!!! Would that be a good idea!? Not sure.

With gas being what it is, pretty spendy to pay someone to haul it. Call a local RV dealer and ask who delivers their campers and they might share a name for you.

I am looking for someone to transport my new purchase too and google in RV transporation companies Many will appear Be sure to hire one with good references and insured . Expect to pay $2.50 -$3.00 per mile

Questions of liability and other coverage is paramount. Experience also matters. The trailer needs to be ready to travel (tires, bearings, brakes, wiring, lighting, safety chains, breakaway switch, etc) before the driver hooks up. If it isn't being towed on the ground then trailer condition is moot, overall.

My last quote by an experienced RV hauler was in Jan '09 at $1.25/mile, zip code to zip code, on the ground. With the quote above, it certainly won't be lower than the one I had (which pays the truck, but not the driver) as a range. I'd rather have it placed on a trailer than trust to components I haven't inspected & corrected which is more expensive, likely, but removes all concerns about trailer condition.
