We purchased a 1995 Excella in Louisana, the Louisana title did not have the weight. Took the title to San Antonio Auto Titles off 410 and Callaghan. Told them how much I paid for it, wrote a check, walked out with new tags in less then 10 minutes. Received the title about 10 days later. I think I paid an additional $15.00, sure beats standing in line at the tax office
The other thing the Travis County tax office made me provide them was the gross weight of the trailer. I looked at the AS brochure for 2005 and found the gross weight. They took my word for it without needing to provide them with anything in writing.
This is wierd. I purchased an 03 Safari 25 SS year before last in Florida. Brought it to San Antonio and had it titled with no hassel. No inspection or weight certification. I'm getting ready to register an 07 Safari 25 FB I recently purchased in Chicago here in San Antonio. I guess that I will keep my fingers crossed.

Depends on your tax assessor-collector's office I suppose.
dstalzer-- Where did you have yours weighed? I can't seem to find any place with a scale within 60 miles or so of where I live in NW Austin. I asked the folks at the Travis County Tax Assessor - Collector's office and they pretty much shrugged and told me they had no idea, but I had to get it weighed anyway.
CMC Metal Recycling at 1704 Howard Lane in North Austin weighed my AS. I think they charged $5 and gave me an official weight ticket that I took to the tax office.
I'm in Louisiana and we also have to have an inspection sticker for our trailers. Recently, the police have been writing tickets for people with boat trailers that have no inspection stiickers. So far, they are leaving the travel trailers alone. That could change at any time.
The inspection here is very basic. Just a safety check to be sure the trailer is road worthy. It cost $10.00 and only took me about 5 minutes to get it done. The fine for not having the sticker is $150.00.
For out of state trailers, they expect you to have what ever your state requires. I'm pretty sure they know what is needed for Texas or Mississippi. If you're from farther away, they probably are just quessing.

Just wanted to update this thread, I took my trailer over to CMC and they were able to fix me up with a certified inspection, just as dstalzer said. It took them about 10 seconds, it took me a few minutes to unhitch and rehitch. I'm so glad to get this step done.

Thanks FC7039, I've actually seen that one before, but New Braunfels is definitely more than 44 miles from my home in NW Austin (just inside the Travis County side of the Travis/Williamson County line). The places in Temple are probably closer to me than anything in New Braunfels or Seguin, but no worries, dstalzer hooked me up with a place much closer in North Austin, just a few miles down Parmer from where I live.
Glad I saw this thread. We are likely moving to Boerne in the next few months. Glad to see that government everywhere is doing it's best to stay in business. I think I'll keep the trailer registered in Colorado for as long as I can.
