Help me get insurance comparisons!?

Hello fellow AirStreamers.

Can you help me find some comparisons for insurance purposes? I've recently done a radical CURVED interior renovation to a mint 1974 AirStream International, 28 footer. I need to know of anything you've seen online where I might get comparisons for the appraisers, who want to know prices they sold or auctioned off for. Get and see pictures attached or by contacting me at director@arcsys.biz Thanks ! Thanks ! Thanks !

Hello Addison -- Welcome to the Forums! Nice job on your Airstream. Blue book values do a very poor job of tracking the quality & value of a vintage Airstream. You need to pursue a declared value policy.

I came up with the following insurance links via searchwords declared value. See if they don't help you some.

Renewing Insurance
Insurance

Did you find an answer in there somewhere?

Insurance

I did extensive research on this over a year ago and frankly found that many who responded on the forum did not have adequate coverage or listened to inaccurate advice from their agents. I even received inaccurate advice form my long time agent. I found after talking to underwriters and some folks on here who had done the same homework, the only way you can be protected with a guarantee is with an "agreed value" policy. I even went the "declared value" route first thinking from the advice of my agent that I was getting the guarantee I wanted. Not so!!!!! It does not matter the amount of the delcared value, an adjuster comes out and makes the final decision. Only in an agreed value, sounds similar but huge difference in coverage, do you get an actual guaranteed. Most companies won't even write an agreed value policy. But a few will but you must get an appraisal and submit the paperwork they ask for in order for them to justify the agreed value you want.

Insurance

Check with GStephens on here as well. He and I had this discussion at length last year and I believe he found that what he had with his agents recommendation was not adequate when pushed with the right questions

Refer to my post of 1/20/07 as the post on 11/30/06 was during the "learning curve". The key is you want AGREED VALUE AND NOT DELCARED VALUE.

Agreed value is the way to go, but where is one to get the required apprasial required by all the companies writing this insurance. I live in SoCal and have come up empty handed. any help would be appreciated.

I have a relationship with the local Airstream dealer. I told him the value I wanted and showed him the receipts on the work I'd had done, most of which he was aware of. He gave me the appraisal with the caveat that it was above what it would sell for. I explained that it was only to help me recoup what I'd spent in the event of a loss and I would not being interested in selling it.

Thanks you guys ! Excella ad Bob.

I certainly appreciate such seasoned advice. I will proceed on the agreed value policy route. It makes real sense now ...after being suspicious the other advised insurance policies would not 'stick' when I would really need it. I have found this particular "learning curve" to be about running around and no one really giving no nonsense solutions.

I am new to posting, links and threads so this is a learn curve too.
I look forward to showing off pics of the finished ArcStream, a radically curved space saving interior design.
