When/if the WBCCI caravanned around-the-world, did they load trailers on ships for crossing over the ocean(s)?

Was just day-dreaming about travelling in our own trailer through Europe Many drawbacks, I'm certain....$ rv parks availability, differences in electricity, trouble in Transylvania

There is a really nice interview with one of the original caravanners Burt Kalet who is organizing the 2009 Capetown to Cairo caravan on The VAP podcast and he talks about when they gathered to load the Airstreams on the ship on the old caravan.
