maybe....?

Get the seller to deliver it to Galveston, Texas where you can ship direct to UK. Or, drive to East coast and ship from there. Put the work on the seller, you are to far away.

Or..........grab a cheap flight to LA and drive it yourself to one of those points....do a complete checkout of the motorhome, do all the updates here (cheaper and easier than in the UK) and have a great vacation at the same time.

Your estimate probably includes the increased costs of going thru the Panama Canal to reach the Atlantic.

The cost would be less from the East Coast.
The savings?
I do not know.

Good Luck

Thanks - we may have to fly over - unless there is someone on the forum who could drive it for us

I don't think most folks in the UK realize just how far it is from one coast to the other here in the US.

Driving from the west coast to east coast is a 4 or 5 day drive over 2200 miles.

From LA to Galveston (Gulf Coast) is about halfway 1600 miles.

As far as the chances of being shot it is not like the news media make it out to be.
Folks that use campers travel all over the US and I have never heard of any of them being shot.

To fly over & pick it up you would have a great trip and see a lot more of the US than most US citizens. The savings from shipping across the US would more than pay for your trip.

... or you could fly someone on the East coast to the West coast and pay them to bring it to a Port like Baltimore where the roll on roll off is cheaper. You would probably save $3-4K that way. Keep in mind also that you are saving 40% due to the weak dollar and strong pound.

I would make that drive for you, I live in up-state NY. We have famly on the west coast, we could visit, then have a great trip back east. We are starting to plan a trip next month as it is. I made the drive with my 75 Argosy 3 years ago, that was an adventure!

Lili,
PM me if you have any problems with shipping, Importation (duty VAT etc) and conversions this side, I have done a few now.
I go with the others - try and find one nearer the E.Coast, or take up a drive offer. From expeience I would go personally and see it, and then decide, as photos are NOT always that honest. Avoid dissapointment this end when you first clap eyes on it in the docks at Southampton. Those extra few bucks are very well worth spending, even if it is to get work done in the States - cheaper than here and parts are off the shelf.

Hi Thanks for help
I may be bald when Im done - I feel like ripping my hair out -
it was easier giving birth and faster !
Dealing with shippers is a bit frustrating -

I do know that Motorhomes are more expensive to ship - Ive learnt that -
Ive gained a bit of knowledge about us driving it across - summer yes - but this time of year I dont fancy it.
Ill see what evolves in the next 48 hours -
kind rgds
