New EU Airstream Bambi - Feb 2009

Hey guys, we're getting a new Airstream model over here in the UK!

The Bambi 422 will be launched at the Boat and Caravan Show at Birmingham's NEC in February. Despite the name, the Bambi is in fact a reworked Sport 17. I think - and I might be wrong - that this is going to be pitched as the 'entry level' Airstream at a price that won't make people baulk so much.

The bodyshell arrived in Liverpool this week so those poor guys up at Tebay have approximately 10 days to get the whole thing through customs and fitted out ready in time for photography and the show. I don't reckon they'll be getting much sleep.

Pix to follow week commencing 16th Feb.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum - you are purchasing a new and very desirable Airstream. What is your tow vehicle?

Cheers willyd. My tow vehicle right now is a van (truck) called a Renault Trafic, a vehicle that is the fruit of a co-operation between Renault, Nissan, and Vauxhall (GM). There are pix of it here:

the definitive euro, asian and international model thread...

Not only is it car-like to drive, but it has a 2.5 common rail turbo diesel engine with a six-speed manual gear box, so my consumption is 40mpg solo and 25mpg towing, which is pretty good for such a large vehicle.

What I would really like is a Nissan Navara Pick-Up (sorry, can't remember the US name but it's the one with the roof bars on the double cab) but funnily enough I'm still getting over the cost of something big & shiny

I'm in the middle of making a video for YouTube about EU Airstreams which should be ready hopefully by Easter - time is my enemy right now.

Florida eh? Now THAT sounds nice to a man in a country in an Arctic grip!
