It may be small fry compared to US gatherings, but we were very excited to have a great 'caravan' and Airstream meeting in Europe a week or so ago.
In the UK, nine Airstreamers met up and we crossed the channel together on the ferry.
In France, a 10th UK Airstreamer joined us and we made a caravan to Gent (Ghent) in Belgium. Here, two more UK Airstreamers and a Belgian couple of Airstreamers joined us.
After three days, 12 of us left Belgium on a convoy to Venlo in the Netherlands. Along the way, another three Airstreams from Belgium and the Netherlands joined our caravan to make 15 trailers.
When we arrived, there were between 35 & 37 trailers on site from the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, France, and Germany.
When we hatched the plan in the UK last year, we expected about 5 or 6 UK Airstreams and a total of between 12 & 15 in the Netherlands. So it became MUCH bigger than we ever expected!
We're all quite partied out and tired now, but already are mooting the next big Euro meeting - possibly in 2013. And of course, there are the usual 'National' meetings in the UK, France, NL, Switzerland... It would be SO GREAT if Airstreaming friends from across the pond ever came to join us, so keep in touch!
I made a video of our weekend. I hope you enjoy it. Please be aware of some bad language in the first few seconds... if this would offend please turn the sound down for the first shot.
I hope you enjoy it:
