urban camping

Hi Björn,
good to hear from you and I like your site.
That was a brilliant marketing strategy of Wally Byam to take the Caravan of Airstreams around the world and use all those incredible locations. Wouldn't it be great to make photos at those old promotional locations with our Airstreams today? So much has changed since then, somehow the world seems to have become smaller. How about to start with that photo in front of the Kremlin on Red Square?
Yes, I am still working in London and Frankfurt and have been enjoying any time off with friends in the Airstream in the city, I call it urban camping.
Speak to you soon,
best,
Anton

Hey, so cool to see the Automium here. I saw it as a backpacking 20 year old in 1982- frayed around the edges but with the 1958-era displays still in place. So glad it was saved, such an amazing structure to see in person. Is it still possible to ship an Airstream to Europe to tour? Has anyone here done it?

Peter

It made the cover of Popular Science in 1958. I'm surprised it's still there. Wasn't it built for a World's Fair?
