My new 1955 Safari.

I recently purchased a 1955 Safari Airstream camper that I found in a ranchers tree strip. He told me the camper was there when he purchased the land over six years ago and no one had touched it. I started doing some research the other day looking at interiors of other 55's so I could see what is original and what is not. I was pleasantly surprised to find photos of my actual camper right after it was restored some time ago. See past and present photos below. The top two are from the vintage airstream website 1955 Safari 22' - Vintage Airstream. The bottom two are photos I took yesterday. If you look at the wood grain by the A/C unit you can tell its the same camper.

It says on the vintage airstream site that it was restored by Ray Plumlee. I would love to find contact info for him and find out a little history of the trailer.

I guess thats enough babbling. I just wanted to start a thread so I could post the progress of my new project. Thanks for reading.

Pat

I am hoping that you got paperwork with it. I think it is beautiful and you will do it justice.

That year & model of Airstream is VERY popular among us vintage lovers and makes a great, very usable / enjoyable trailer. Congratulations on a great find. Please do continue to post photos of your work. Exciting stuff there.

A 1955 doesn't all that different from a 2014!
Beautiful trailer!
Enjoy it!

This is hard to believe, make sure you get your paper work in order.
