Just took delivery of new 2006 Safari 23' LS

The new 2006 Safari 23 LS we purchased in Ohio a week ago was delivered to us this afternoon! We had a lovely shrimp, french-bread and champagne dinner in the camper to welcome her to the family. Already I'm feeling all maternal about this camper - it'a 'thing', right? So why is 'IT' already tugging at my heart-strings like my pets do? We already put a few personal items in it and they just fit right in like they were intended to live there. I'll post pictures by the end of the weekend. Thank you to all of you who have responded to my various questions so far, both pre- and post-purchase. This is one of the kindest and friendliest forums! It must be that Airstreamers are just nice folks. - Liga -

Congratulations! I know what you mean about them being like pets. So true.

Wishing you many happy nights in shining armor when the summer comes,
Lisa

That's OK. We're still in love with our airstream - even more so actually - after these 3 years of ownership. Can't wait to hit the road again in April for the first trip of 2011. Actually, getting notice of these posts brought me back to the forum, and made me realize I was missing out by not checking in from time to time.

I did get lots of photos. Here's a couple (I think, assuming I'm understanding the photo posting properly).

Welcome back. Your dog is beautiful. Looks like you need to check out the quilting in an airstream thread too.

I have those same folding chairs. They are so comfortable! They do not have a bar that hits you in the thighs or back of the head. They do not put pressure on your hips like an umbrella chair. They fold extremely flat and they recline.

Years ago we bought a set of chairs at Wal-mart without those bars and when they started getting long-in-the-teeth we went on a hunt for new chairs and realized that most chairs are not made like that. It took years to find the replacements at Camping World. Our first set were ugly, paint spattered and missing plastic by the time we retired them.

When I take my comfy chairs to regattas and set them up with all the "Umbrella" chairs that other families bring, my chairs are always the first ones to get sat in even by people who have brought their own! People will camp out in them and if its a kid I will kick them out kindly. I tend to wait for the adults to get up and then scoot into place quickly.

Thanks - Murphy (the dog) is a really good camping companion and instinctively considerate of our neighbors (doesn't cross over into their territory, doesn't bark, etc), which makes it easy and enjoyable to include him in our travels.

I did not realize there was a quilter's thread on the Airstream forum - I will definitely look for it.

We LOVE these chairs - they are all that you said and more. We sat in a lot of chairs while trying to pick out the right ones, even ordered a couple that were highly rated and we wound up sending back because of the fit (hit us in all the wrong places and were not comfortable to get in and out of), but these are keepers for sure!
