Well I hope that no one ellses baby was destroyed last night. The beautiful silver machine isn't such a looked after tennis ball sized hail.

Sorry to hear that. I know exactly how you feel I am afraid some will have been destroyed in all the tornado activity.

Have you got any way to get photos posted before long?
My sister came to Texas in their new 2011 and got marble size hail on it last Thursday but at this point they don't believer its hurt.

I have had that happen three times and one totaled. Did you loose the skylights? You sure need to quiz the repair shop. I was told that my segments may not have been replaced properly and that I needed to remove a few rivets and inspect for caulking and sealers. I always got caught away from home with it.

I am going to push the insurance company to send it to ohio for the repair if its not totaled. My ac is in pieces, the shylights are gone, vents are gone, and he solar panels are busted. Some of the dents are probably 8" in diameter.

I'm sorry to hear about the damage. We have been planning a cross country trip leaving tomorrow to Virginia to attend our son's wedding. We have changed our route several times but it looks like we will be hugging the Canadian border and avoiding the south... at least until we need to dash down to the DC area. What a mess.

My heart goes out to you. The good news is that there wasn't a tornado that took lives. Airstreams are cool, but living is cooler....keep the faith and keep us posted.

Oh, we feel so bad for you and your lovely AS. We were not far from you last night, camped outside of Gatlinburg. All is well with us, thank God.

The death and destruction across the south this week is truly saddening. I had a personal experience in, and connection to, one of the worst hit cities, Tuscaloosa. See my post #675 here:

We have friends in Tuscaloosa who were leaving today for South Dakota. Yesterday they hitched up the Airstream in preparation and then had to take shelter. They found their truck with the Hensley still attached. Today they found the Airstream in two separate pieces. One piece down in a gully and the other piece up on a hill. Their home was totally destroyed. Everything is gone. They have their lives...they were not hurt and their family is okay also. They are blessed. Their insurance will help. They are still in a state of shock but they will survive this and go on. The human spirit is strong.

All of us in our Airstream group are standing by to help when necessary.

It hailed marble size here a few days back...lasted about five horrible minutes...we got home and the Airstream held up to it all. (whew!)

We had golf ball size hail here in Cleveland,TN. Luckily our Laverne (MH) was protected by trees. That sounds funny in a tornado area. She has a dented fridgerator vent, a dimple on the top near an A/C unit, & one of the ventline covers is cracked. Our '74 Tradewind has several new dimples on her top & sides near the top. She had so many before the storm it's hard telling the old ones from the new ones. Our minivan took the most damage. 5 golf ball size dings in the roof. all glass everywhere held up. Just thankful everyone is OK.

Sorry to hear of this and sure hope it turns out ok for you.

When we got our AS a few years ago and I took out insurance, I particularly asked if my policy included hail damage and I was told it did so I was happy.

A month later when I got my policy and read the fine print, it did indeed have hail damage coverage but only in the event that the hail caused perforation - and I don't think they meant just a busted skylight.

I spoke with the broker who assured me they do get perforation damage of the body by hail but I find that very hard to believe.

I changed insurance companies for peace of mind and hail damage coverage without these weasel words! Cost me quite a bit more though.

Hmm, I have new Maxim skylights in teh basement waiting to be installed - I'd better get on with the job.

You might want to consider Maxims if you need to replace broken skylights even if you have to pay the slight extra cost. A much more substantial product.
