That would be one of two know surviving 28' Whirlwinds. I beleive it is a 1948 model. The other surviving Whirlwind I beleive has been denoted as a 1949 model, and it also has two doors, but the rear door is on the street side, not the curb side. I think that one was shipped to Europe a few years ago, so it's current whereabouts are unknown.

I know where there is another but I wouldn't call it a "survivor". Trailer Buff has one in their yards that's practically in pieces. It could be little more than a pattern for building one from scratch.

I can't believe I don't have a better photo. I seem to have an affinity for these old near-lost causes.

A third Whirlwind had been found! This second one has both doors on the curbside like the one in Jackson Center.

Past VAC Historian Fred Coldwell, in one of his articles, once suggested that there may have only been 10 to 20 28' Whirlwinds produced, although I beleive that was more an estimate than anything, because production numbers have not been found.

At one time I considered those the Holy Grail of Airstreams and finding one would have been at the top of my desirability list. Times change and while I'd still like one, there is currently no room at the Inn if I found one.

Thanks for sharing the photo!

Picked up two sheets of Aqua Boomerang formica today (Retro Laminate : Boomerang, Cracked Ice, Retro Counter Tops). Hope to apply it to the two counters and table top this weekend.

What do you think, will it match the stove?

I think it will be a lovely match. But Oh Boy! Is that expensive!
Great job in keeping it original looking.

Sink is installed, faucet is installed, water and drain are hooked up. The only thing left is to hookup the switch for the water heater and then pack. We will be on our way to Salida on Saturday.

Unlike our trip to Bozeman two years ago, nothing was scratched off the to do list.

Since the interior is now usable, I decided to spend some time polishing the outside. That way the Liner will look less like a derelict and hopefully keep my neighbors happy, although no one has complained.

The trailer looks great, Bill. If mine looked that good my neighbors would be delighted.

Polish

Bill,

What are you using for polish? Just curious... I've got some polishing videos up under "Airstreamnut" on YouTube... perhaps I could come up and do some polishing for ya next weekend....if I don't go up north.

Your Diamond Brite on a 7" Harbor Freight polisher followed up by Mothers polish on a drill.

I have watched your videos, but I don't have a cyclo.

I think that we are going to the Orange County Fair on Friday, if you want to meet.
