The new karma system is whack. Under the old system, when you gave karma, the number of points that you gave was a function of the amount of karma that you had, the number of posts, and your number of years on the forum. So the more karma you had, the more you could give.
I really enjoyed that feature. I don't want to start a discussion of the fairness of allowing members with more karma to give out more karma, and maybe I'm an elitist, I just like the old way better.
. . . and I apologize for waving those pictures of my PressurePro install in everyone's face. I didn't know they would end up in the header when I posted them in my gallery.
to paraphrase some famous person, "The old karma system was pretty bad, except for all the other possible karma systems."

PS--guru-ism, eg, credit for age, experience gained through painful trial and error, and active participation, ought to count for something, even if gurus aren't always right or helpful. just my two cents. all hail 63Overlander, et al.

Yes the old system did have a large ego factor to it. As long as karma remains private it really makes no difference other than ego. However if it becomes a public factor the points per comment clearly give weight to that comment.
Don't know if this has been covered yet or even if it is important. It seems my Karma received total is lower than it used to be.Has anybody else experienced a similar situation?
I thought it was just me. It seems I went from well over 1600 points down to 39. Some little icon did tell me that I have a riveting personality though. Previously it told me I owned an aluminum hat. (How did they know?? I haven't worn it since I retired. )
Those instructions are in post #89 in this thread. Thanks RoadKingMoe! Karma sent.
Upon further testing, I cannot connect to the Classifieds at all, since it is looking at localhost. I will leave it, and when I want to connect to the classifieds I will comment it out temporarily.

Not sure if you have seen this but since my post it has been explained.Check out Post #71 in this link.

I just discovered that too—I went to the Forum page and I can't get the Classifieds. It's worth it though. I have one A/S and don't need another. I hated that thing in the corner—worse than a pop up because I couldn't get rid of it.
I have to admit it was cool how it peeled the page open. Once was enough.

Hi Gene,
What I did on my Windows machine at work was put a shortcut to the file on my desktop next to the shortcut to Safari. Then, if I want to look at the forums, it is quick and easy to comment that line out and save. When done, just remove the comment tag and save again.

8pm... Just clicked the classifieds (original tab location) and it misdirected to the new blogs link.
Clicking the peel down classifieds link and it goes to a blank page.

And I really miss the "chat" link in the blue bar where I could see that actually some of us were chatting and who and how many... and have access to the floating chat room window
