65, That's how adbrite's "intermission ad" works. For everybody else, if you are using firefox, you should be able to use the adblock extension to block the adbrite ads altogether.
Crap -- I'm using Firefox! I just took a quick tour through the help section. Where do I find the selection settings to block adbrite? Have mercy on me -- teach an old dog a new trick!

Tools > options> block pop ups (make sure and check the allowed sections to make sure they have snuck around your defences)

Tools>Extensions>Get More Extensions. The window that opens up has Adblock about a third of the way down...
I was wondering where that was coming from, it is a pain, more than once a day too.....

That was all set correctly. What I didn't have was the specific adblock extension. I just downloaded it so hopefully that's that!
...and yes, I do recall seeing a NetZero ad. I wasn't paying attention at all, just backing out until things looked normal again. I'm guessing I'm not going to see that ad ever again I guess

65, I used the following to block ads so far:
*adbrite*
*extreme-dm*
*alexa*
*googlesyndication*
Enter those exactly as you see written and that will keep things quiet while still allowing the google maps thing to work.
Intermission Ads are never shown to a user on their first visit to a site...
Well.........I clicked on my Airstreamforums bookmark, and an ad for NetZero was what opened up!!! I hit the "reload" button, and the Airstreamforums page opened up! Personally, I find this unacceptable. Is there another way to display ads, if they are necessary to support the site? Meanwhile....ADblock will be installed on my Firefox....
Just suddenly the Forum disappeared and some strange website came up. No obvious way to close it out. Pressing the Back button took me back to the Forum, then a second latter it again jumped to the strange website. I though I'd been hacked.
It is hijacking, claiming to be something for my benefit.
You can't force me to read or accept an undesired website, all you do with that kind of advertising is make me angry. Anger at the advertiser cannot lead to sales. Lessening the otherwise good experience on the Forum would drive me away from the Forum.
Andy will be working on this since there is something not working correctly at this point. All of us are seeing this....including the moderators. Obviously this is not a good thing. Thanks to everyone for their feedback.
