I received a "thank you" email from Andy. Is that the same as a confirmation?

I'm feeling enhanced, just not looking enhanced.

Now What?

I signed up last week and, to date, have received no email or other notification of my FOrum "AIR #" or seen any change in my account. Is there another step I need to do or just wait for the "paperwork" to catch up to me?

My impression is that the volunteer aspect of mailout of Forums stickers and increasing your storage for photos and PMs takes a while to happen. I know that Andy forwards the sticker mailout lists to the Jack no more than once a month. I'll check into this.... Thanks for your patience!

No problem...

Canoe,

No problem. It was not a complaint just a question. It is not clear how/what happens once you donate.

Heh, gives me something to look forward too!

The last list we ran covered a two month period. The other issue is that we have a bug in the software that is yet to be found that causes some names to be omitted from the mailout lists. I do have about 14 decals ready to go out in the mail, which covers the members joining just prior to Thanksgiving. All I can ask you is to wait about 6 weeks from your initial joining. If you haven't got your decal by then, send me a PM and I'll see what I can find out.

Sorry for the problems and hopefully the bug will be found and we will get the reports correct and not cause anyone undue delay.

Decal Update 12/12/06

Just an update to everyone waiting for their Air decals. It has taken quite a while to get things straightened out but Andy has been working on reconciling Pay Pal contributions for the forums, and I have been using that information to cross check the data base to see who has and who hasn't gotten decals.

The bottom line is the list is much larger than I imagined and we have about 47 of you some of which go back to August that didn't get your stickers. We are truly sorry about this and there is going to be either a rewrite or some corrections made to our reporting system that was supposed to give me the names and addresses for shipping purposes.

Now to make matters worse as I was stuffing envelopes I realized that we did not have enough decals to fulfill all the orders. With that in mind I will be going by the printer on Thursday 12/14 to get a new supply ordered. It's been almost a year to the day that we turned in our initial order. I think it took about 2 weeks to get those orders turned around so I expect that we should be able to reproduce that time frame.

So the bottom line is I'm going to ship these decals out based on the date you contributed. That puts those contributors from August through October 6th first in line. The next contributions came in on 10/8 so those of you from 10/8 though today need to hold on a little longer while our decals are being printed. I already have the mailing labels ready so it will just be a matter of putting them in the envelope and adding postage.

Hopefully this will get us back on track by year end, and hopefully we can get the software working correctly so we don't get into this kind of situation again.

Also those of you still emailing about enhancements promised, I assume you have already seen some of the adjustments made on your screen name. Andy is still working behind the scenes to get things working correctly. Other than the shiny rivet issue all of the account enhancements are available as promised.

Regards,

Jack

hi jack

seems to an outsider the paypal2decal2member process is cumbersome, time consuming and slow...

how about using a service like cafe press or other on line vendor....

or would this be too expensive? i know nothing about the costs associated with using cafepress or other services like this...

an added benefit (or not) of looking into these vendors is coffee cups, tee shirts and fuzzy dice!

cheers

I've got a feeling that it might push the costs up. Quite honestly once we get the new software running, the process should be better. According to Andy it will be more automated and I'll be able to get the reports without having to rely upon him to run them for me. It's just a matter of reducing the amount of human intervention. This last quarter has given us fits.

They are on their way.

Well I picked up the new decal order yesterday and stuffed the envelopes last night. At 12:30 PM today the decals were officially in the hands of USPS, and are on the way to your door. As noted earlier this covers the missing orders, and recent orders through 12/12. Hope you all enjoy your decals. Some of you folks in the midwest might receive these as early as Saturday. The balance of you on the other sides of the country will probably see them on Tuesday or Wednesday next week......and the one going to Canada?? I don't know what mailing times are there.

Regards and Merry Christmas to all.

Jack

Thanks!

Received my AIR stickers in the mail yesterday just in time to put them on the Bambi and my TV before Christmas and I head out to do some camping!

I have to say I REALLY appreciate Andy, John, and all those moderators and other support troops that keep this Forum not just surviving but THRIVING! It is by far the best member Forum I have seen on the entire Internet.

I also want to say thank you to each of the individual members of the Forum. From day one when I posted my first tentative question, I have received nothing but support, words of encouragement, and amazing insights and help. I have saved enough money from the advice given to me my experienced AS-ers to pay for my "contribution" and AIR account/stickers a hundred times over.

At work, I am a Six Sigm Black Belt and work on process improvement. I calculate the Return on Investment and Return of Assets for all kinds of performance improvement projects and work. To me, the ROI for being a Forum member is THROUGH THE ROOF!

Again, thanks EVERYONE. 2006 was a good year. It brought me a Bambi, membership in the Forum and WBCCI, and connection with a lot of AS-er friends-to-be.

May 2007 be even better and here's hoping we get to meet some of you all in person.

May the holidays be a time of joy, rest, re-energizing, and may 2007 bring you an "Aluminum" shiny future.
